I purchased a TAG Heuer watch a year ago, investing R45000 in what I expected to be a reliable timepiece. Unfortunately, my experience has been far from satisfactory. Here’s why:
1. Watch Stopped Working: The watch suddenly stopped functioning, leaving me without a timepiece that should have lasted much longer. As someone who owns other watches (including Fossil and more affordable brands), I’ve never encountered such issues with them—even after years of use.
2. Water Damage Explanation: When I sent the watch to TAG SA for repair, I was shocked to learn that they attributed the issue to a “hard knock.” As someone who takes care of their belongings, this explanation didn’t sit well with me. A watch at this price point should be more robust and resistant to everyday wear.
3. Exorbitant Repair Cost: To add insult to injury, TAG SA quoted me R11000 for the repair. For a watch that’s only a year old, this cost felt excessive. It’s disheartening to invest so much money in a luxury brand, only to face such steep repair fees.
4. Lack of Transparency: Discovering negative reviews online after the fact was a wake-up call. I wish I had done more research before making my purchase. TAG Heuer’s lack of transparency about potential issues and repair costs is disappointing.
In summary, my experience with TAG Heuer has been nothing short of frustrating. As a result, I won’t be purchasing from them again. Buyers beware—do your homework and consider other options before investing in this brand.
