I recently attended an online interview for an Operations Assistant Manager role. The interview was initially scheduled for 10 a.m., then rescheduled to 12 p.m. On the day, I met with two Operations Managers and the Department Manager, and answered a range of questions — some relevant, others not so much.
I bring almost nine years of BPO experience and nine years of managerial expertise in leading teams within BPO and customer service. After the interview, I sent a follow-up email but received no response. Two weeks later, I followed up again and still heard nothing — no update, no feedback, not even a courtesy decline.
Unfortunately, this is not the first time I’ve encountered such poor recruitment practices with this organisation. In a previous instance, I attended an interview for another role, only to sit for nearly four hours before being told they weren’t interviewing for that position. I was given an email address to follow up — which I did — but once again, there was no response.
This level of disregard for candidates’ time and effort is disappointing and unprofessional. Clear communication costs nothing, but says everything about a company’s values.
