Dear Fay Olive, I write this message with a heavy heart and a sense of deep disappointment following my recent visit to your establishment on Sunday. As a loyal and regular patron, I have always supported your business, but this recent experience has left me disheartened. During my visit, a high-value item went missing from my bag while I was on your premises. No one aside from your waitstaff had access to our table, which raises serious concerns. What has been even more upsetting is the manner in which this situation has been handled by your manager. My communication with her has been consistently passive-aggressive, with a clear lack of empathy or urgency. Instead of investigating the matter seriously, I was told—almost dismissively—to lay a case at the police station, with little to no support or ownership from your team. Despite it being two days since the incident, I have received no meaningful follow-up or resolution. I also find it unacceptable that I was denied the owner’s contact details when I expressed dissatisfaction with the manager’s handling of the issue. As a business owner myself, I am appalled by this lack of accountability and customer care. I strongly urge that someone from senior management reach out to address this matter appropriately. Please consider this not only a formal complaint but also a cautionary note for future patrons: customer experience and care should always be a priority.

I an writing this to commend the wonderful service we received from Themba Hadebe on the 16th of March. We came there to celebrate my niece's birthday but due to the weather, the beach bar seemed very quiet and not meeting our expectations. We explained that we wanted the beach bar because of the seafood platter which the other restaurant did not have. He offered that we can seat by the fat olive restaurant side, he will bring us the food that side. Not only that, he organised for the artist to sing happy birthday for my niece. He gave us a day we will never forget with his service. We were very impressed and will never regret coming there all the time because he exceeded our expectations. The food was also amazing and you deserve a 10/10. May this kind of customer service always be there.

My daughter wanted to take me out somewhere in a country setting and, I googled and found The Fat Olive. I was so looking forward to a nice fresh environment and good food. We were met by very pleasant staff, especially the young man with dreadlocks (forget his name). He apologized for everything that went wrong. The outside seating was exactly what the doctor ordered. That was the end of the good experience From then things went south. For starters we ordered Italian Meat ***** and Chicken Livers. I have never tasted anything worse. The meat***** were dry, bland and burnt. The sauce looked and tasted like pureed tinned tomatoes, nothing more or less. The first time the meat***** met the gravy was in the bowl. My daughter also complained that the Chicken Livers were undercooked...this after we waited 45 minutes for the order. Needless to say, we only had water and left, never to return or recommend this place to anyone. As a bonus, I woke up with cramps and a runny tummy and I know exactly where that comes from. I pray my daughter doesn't get salmonella from the half cooked chicken Livers.

The pictures are nothing like the accommodation. For R3995 per night it was over run with ****roaches. Then the fridge stopped working and spoiled all our food. The linen was inferior. It was most unpleasant. No good having a 270 degree view. When there's no garden furniture to sit on and no roof covering.

This was the worst place that I have been to eat. my family and I went there to have lunch on 17/12/23. the service was nothing short of horrific. we were served someone else's food. then had to wait forever to get our own. I ordered a drink and the waiter forgot all about me and I left without having it. we were then charged for Springbok Shanks that they didnt have in stock. the manager kept telling us that he was only working there for 2 days. we left without even going to the Beach Bar as we were sceptical about the service in that place. I would never go there again and never recommend this place to anyone.

Horrible service by Morgan who couldn’t pour wine for us and said he is busy they are fully booked , brought food without salt and pepper to my table and literally had to fetch it myself. This happened on 8 October 2023 .

On the 23rd September 2023 we went to the fat olive for the day, upon arriving we were told that they are having an event and that they are fully booked, this was a low blow because we drove an hour to get there. They suggested another restaurant that we could go to but that specific place did not have much for us to do. The food we got was raw too. When we arrived at home I decided to email the fat olive directly and they called me back, I explained the experience we had to the staff member and she assured me that their manager would call me back on Sunday which did not happen. When I logged onto their site to look for their email address there was a notice that the restaurant was fully booked for the 23rd and 24th but when I checked their site on the morning of the 23rd there was no notice. I am disappointed and disgusted at the service and response I received from them. They clearly don’t value walk in clients.
