Couch Potato 27 Flamingo Crescent Lansdowne Cape Town. 15 months ago I paid Couch Potato R10 000 for 2 x cots for my grandchildren. They delivered something which I call a death trap for children. The cots had a thick solid horizontal bar with no padding inside the cots. The children could fall against it and end up with brain damage. The children could step on it and fall out of the cots and end up with a broken neck. The cots were unstable. They did not follow Consumer Product Safety measures when manufacturing the two cots. I informed them when the cots were delivered that my daughters refuse to use the cots and they must come and collect them. They acknowledged fault/guilt and decided to collected the cots months later. The brother Mr Gasant Jacobs agreed with me that the cots are dangerous for children and that he would not let his child who is about the same age as my grandchildren use the cots. The sister Mariam Jacobs informed me that she is an attorney and that she has her masters in law. I am still confused as to why she gave me her qualification. I did not ask her for her qualifications. Not once did she apologies to me as a customer. The brother Nazmi Jacobs apologized for the misunderstanding and promised to refund me. I hand delivered my banking details to him and I am still waiting for my money. They have my R10 000 and the cots. I have lodged a complaint with the Western Cape Government Consumer Complaints helpdesk incident number 200808-000212. The same company manufactures couches for @Home. I also hand delivered a letter from my attorney to them on the 24 June 2020. It is the 9 August 2020 and I have not received any response from Couch Potato. I will not allow them to get away with this unfair business practice I will continue until they refund me my R10 000. They cannot get away with taking a customers money.
