I am a resident at The Parks Lifestyle Apartments where gym access is included as part of my rental agreement. Unfortunately, I’ve had two unpleasant encounters with one of the personal trainers known as Coach Krazy.
The first incident happened when I was new to the complex. I was quietly using the cycling machine upstairs when Coach Krazy approached me and told me I couldn’t be there because a class was taking place. His tone was unnecessarily rude and dismissive. There was more than enough space, and I wasn’t interfering in any way. As a paying resident, I believe I have the right to use all gym areas respectfully and safely.
The second incident occurred recently while a family member and I were training. I had taken a 10kg body bag upstairs to complete part of my workout. Later, when I came downstairs for a breather, Coach Krazy asked if we were done with the bag. After I said yes, he instructed me to bring it back down - again, in a tone that felt unnecessarily authoritative and unfriendly.
What’s most concerning is that he appears to interact very differently with other gym users, most of whom are Black. I can’t help but feel that we are being treated differently, which is extremely uncomfortable and disappointing.
I am sharing this not to create conflict, but to raise awareness of what feels like unprofessional and potentially discriminatory behavior from a staff member representing the complex’s gym. I truly hope management looks into this matter, as all residents deserve to feel equally respected and welcome in shared facilities.
