I checked in my 2022 Mercedes Benz red C200 for a valet, on the morning of 15 September 2023, at PINK CAR WASH Willowbridge branch. Apart from being dirty due to the rains, my car was perfect outside and inside. I am extremely meticulous about my car and value my possessions dearly. I left my car with Pink Car Wash, trusting that they would be meticulous about their client’s possessions too - even more than their clients, as they value their business and respect something which does not belong to them.
When I collected my car, I noticed that my centre console had scratches on it, but it was dark and so I had to drive out to see whether this was indeed so. I had to take an incoming call, and could only inspect the console when I arrived at Vineyard Business Park 2.1km down the road. I was nauseous with shock when I saw the extent of the damage!!! I immediately called Leon, the person on duty, and explained to him what had happened, but he was not very perturbed at all, telling me that I must return for him to inspect the vehicle - this should have been done by him before handing the car over to me! I sent him a photo of the damage, and gave him the location for him to inspect the car, as I was unable to return, as I had an appointment I had to get to. I also understood that one cannot inspect a vehicle in a poorly lit underground parking garage. In a number of messages between myself and Leon, he alluded that I had brought the vehicle in like that, but this is a SERIOUSLY BAD assumption to make. WHY WOULD I DAMAGE MY OWN VEHICLE???? My console has been so badly damaged that it needs complete replacement. One can clearly see that a cloth with gravel/debris in it was used to wipe this, and if this was not the case, they used something which BADLY DAMAGED my vehicle. Leon stated in his messages to me that he “analysed the scratches on the photo I sent him” and concluded that those marks could not have been made by our micro fibre cloths” and further, that “the marks are not consistent with a wiping action”. Leon continues that “it is my conclusion that the damage to your vehicles centre console screen did not happen during the cleaning process this morning”. Leon is CLEARLY stating that I brought in a damaged vehicle, alluding that I am lying about this. This unscientific, biased conclusion by Leon is a gross allegation based on Leon protecting his staff and accusing the client. The incentive for me to damage a R1.5 million car I am paying for is less than the chances of the *********** GROSS NEGLIGENCE of an employee washing a car which does not belong to them. Leon had no interest in solving this gross negligence, and neither would he give me the contact details nor the name of the car wash's owner.
After chatting with a number of friends, I was sent a HELLO PETER link, where it is very evident that PINK CAR WASH does not have a good reputation at all, and Leon is also negatively highlighted in the reviews. My experience with the atrocious service at PINK CAR WASH now makes complete sense and is in line with the complaints posted online.
