The venue speaks for itself visually but whatever beauty it has cannot make up for the vile and condescending behavior of the owners. We were appointed to provide décor and catering for a wedding and their venue of choice was The Venue. Due to a wedding that was taking place we could only begin the décor setup at 11:30pm and had to work overnight before the ceremony the following morning, the following occurred; 1. The owners sent their staff home without cleaning tables or floors (the décor company packing up only took all their equipment) so we had to clean their venue 2. Load shedding occurred in the early hours of the morning and despite having a generator the owners refused to switch it on so that we could have lights while setting up. On the wedding day, the following occurred; 1. The use of fridges is very limited for whatever reason and the owners prohibit the use of water from their sinks for washing dishes. 2. The owner treated our staff terribly, aggressively ordering them to feed The Venue's staff before the wedding guests had even finished being served. 3. Despite how late the wedding finished the previous evening, the owners forced the wedding reception to end at 7pm, closing the bar and being very rude to guests, the bride & groom. They proceeded to be very hostile while we were packing up and switched off all lights at 9pm before we were finished clearing out. These are but a few of the foul an unacceptable behavior's exhibited by The Venue's owners. I highly recommend staying away from this business if you don't want to risk ruining a special occasion.

In response to the previous review. Take them up legally if they are not able to uphold their side of the contract that is a breach and you are entitled to full legal recourse. The venue is new and i heard the previous owners would charge a fee to all suppliers maybe the new owners are doing the same. Thank you for the heads up no one wants to lose that amount of money.

<div>Every bride deserves to find her dream venue, and hopes the planning is a stress free one. I booked my wedding venue in November 2019. I paid a R25000 deposit to secure the booking, in February 2020 my preferred decor supplier hosted an event at The Venue Shongweni and did not have a easy relationship with the owner. My decor supplier informed me about the additional charges like electricity and water that were given to them. My decor supplier expressed to me that the working environment was hostile and would not ever host an event at The Venue Shongweni again. I contacted the Venue and was informed by management that my prefered decor supplier was not welcome to host any events at their venue. As one can imagine the stress i felt as my venue and decor supplier refuse to work together. I had no other choice but to inform the Venue that i would like to cancel. Upon reading the terms and conditions of the contract given to me by The Venue, nowhere does it state that a refund or cancellation cannot be done. Management now wants to charge me 20% of the entire amount being R50 000 for absolutely nothing. If there was a cancellation policy in their contract which stated the percentage that would be charged upon cancellation i i would gladly adhere to the percentage stated, however in this case there was not! So where does this 20% cancellation fee on the entire amount come from when i only paid a deposit!!! 20% of R50 000 is R10 000 for absolutely nothing! I have cancelled and given 6 months notice to The Venue as i cancelled as soon as the disagreements occurred. The Venue continues to make up terms and conditions as they go along such as a 20% fee and refund only once my date has been replaced which to me is unfair as there is a contract in place. Furthermore The Venue as a supercharge of R15 000 per day if you do not use their suppliers. Yes R15 000! A contract is signed for a reason and if a business does not adhere to their own terms and conditions where does it leave us as a consumer? The Venue Shongweni is beautiful but be prepared to spend and arm and a leg!!! Oh btw still have not resolved my issue of the refund!!!!!!!!!!!! </div>
