For good food but an extremely awful experience go here. The current owner, who's parents ran this establishment for years, is a piece of work. She is both rude and particularly unpleasant to her staff. I'm amazed that wealthy Johannesburg's choose to still support the place. Granted the food is good, but how can you stand by and witness the dismissive and blatantly rude way the owner treat her staff - let alone the customers. I refuse to support such behaviour!

****** rude *****ted disrespectful woman owner or manager! I witnessed her humiliate and undermine a black male waiter today in front of staff and customers. I confronted her, left the few goodies I had selected (ridiculously expensive!!), and will never be back. If you cannot respect black people then don't do business in Africa!!!

The owner is incredibly rude and selects only a few customers to ask how their meal is. She neglects the rest of the customers who support the restaurant. Honestly just go for the good food but I will not support her any further

If you like Italian cuisine, this is the place to go! I ordered Spinach Malfatti with mushroom sauce and it a winner! The ricotta cheesecake with homemade vanilla icecream was superb!

I took my 40 week pregnant wife to Toretellini D'oro because she craved icecream and I knew this place had great icecream. We ordered icecream from the icecream fridge/counter and told the lady that assisted us the we would like to sit down. We ordered two cups of icecream 1scoop (R30) and 2scoop(R40) respectively. She scooped the icecream in a takeaway cup and handed it over to us with takeaway s****s after we said we wanted to sit down. So we took out takeaway and sat at a table while we had next to no assistance from waiters. When we asked for the bill they charged us R120 for the icecream stating it is for 3 scoops of icecream which is R40 a scoop. I confronted the waiter and manager about this and explained that we asked at the couter and saw the prices and ate from our takeaway cups as was given to us. She said that if you sit down that is the price and there is nothing she can do about this. I, not wanting to upset my highly pregnant wife, decided to pay and leave. Usually the sit down icecream comes in nice frozen bowls and then I understand the price. But giving us the "take away" treatment and charging us double the price with a bad attitude is bad business. This place will not see me again. I do not recommend this place if you would like nice friendly and honest service.

My husband and I live in Oaklands & frequent Tortellini D'oro just down the road. On 15 July 2015 we went for dinner, and it was lovely, as always, until we wanted to pay.<br> My husband had just been to the ATM & was issued with R200 notes. When we wanted to pay for the bill with 4 R200 notes, the waiter told us that they don't accept OLD R200. We googled \old and new R200"notes"
