I am sharing my personal experience with a pool installation carried out by Tygerberg Pools.
The project experienced multiple delays beyond the original timeline provided.
During excavation, a fibre line on the property was cut without prior consultation. We had to resolve the issue through our ISP at our own cost.
Electrical wiring for the irrigation system was cut and later rewired incorrectly. An incorrect wire type was used and cemented into the pool skirting, requiring us to install a new electrical line at our expense.
We were advised to purchase a second Kreepy Krauly because we were told the first unit was faulty (it was new). It later became apparent that the issue was related to the heating and plumbing configuration, which was not set up correctly. This additional cost was borne by us.
The foreman was not consistently present on site, despite assurances from the salesperson that he would be on site throughout the installation. This required us to supervise the workers closely to prevent issues such as uneven skirting, visible tile chips, and incorrect positioning of the pool in relation to the house.
There is permanent damage and cement residue on much of the mosaic tiling.
Paving work included in the quotation was only partially completed. Several areas were left unfinished. The completed sections are uneven, sloped, and include broken bricks, with cement marks and discoloration remaining. The paving will require redoing.
The pump was installed next to the borehole to reuse an existing electrical point, as advised by the foreman. However, this plug only receives power when the borehole timer activates, making it unsuitable for the pump. We were advised we would need to pay an electrician to install a new, permanent power supply.
We also experienced issues with both the filter and heating systems. These were eventually resolved, but only after problems had already occurred and additional time was spent addressing them.
Some rubble and minor damages were left behind, which can be expected with construction work but are noted here for completeness.
Although we were charged premium rates for non-standard items, the overall quality of workmanship did not meet our expectations based on those costs.
Additionally, the workers on site appeared to be temporary day labourers rather than the long-term, experienced staff described to us by the salesperson. We were told that permanent staff would be responsible for the installation, paid only upon completion, with deductions for any defects. Our observation did not align with this representation.
We selected this company based on prior positive reviews, but our experience differed significantly. I am posting this review to reflect what occurred during our installation and to assist others in making an informed decision.
