******S⚠️ ******S⚠️ ******S ⚠️ This was my first time experiencing ****** in South Africa. My family and I relocated from Swaziland to South Africa, Parys, a couple of years ago. One thing we loved about the town was the warmth and unity of its people. Since we moved, we have been supporting local businesses as most we learn about them through the local Facebook community group. Umfula Resort was also on our bucket list. Most of our friends ( non members) have visited the place and had so much to say about it. Unfortunately, on the 11th January 2025 wasn't the case for us. Upon arrival, we were told they don't allow day visitors unless one is a member or close family to a member. That alone actually contradicted their adverti*****ts on the Facebook Community group. I was told I could either pay R150 000 or R1200/ month to become a member. When I asked as to why do I suddenly have to sign up for membership when our friends (who are white) have been allowed entrance on several occasions to the establishment and that their advert doesn't have any mention of membership on it! The lady told me to refer any further questions to the owner, whom I won't mention. The following day, my husband went to the same resort with my niece (not members), both white, and they were both allowed entrance at a fee, but after realizing that the Resort is actually ******, opted to go to Casa Cara Resort instead, where we were all welcome. This act proved to me that Umfula Resorts is a ****** establishment, and they don't welcome black families or rather black people in the resort. What baffles me, though, is that their labor is mostly black people. The even bigger question is, how fair is the treatment towards them if black clients aren't allowed in the resort?

Booking made 6 months ago “lost” by Umfula. Refusing to honour booking and not taking calls or answering emails. No indication of a refund of deposit paid and not willing to engage . All campers beware!

We stayed in a chalet at Umfula resort in the Parys area for a weekend. I had to pay a breakage deposit prior to our stay. I was given a form to complete with my banking details, they promised to refund me an EFT after our stay, which never happened. They just ignored my e-mails, and when I phoned they took my banking details AGAIN and promised immediate payment, but still nothing happened.
