I would like to register this complaint related to the UNIKA's fundraisers (and the concert of the Brendon Peyper en die Piensangskille band ) which created unbearable noise in the Robindale area. The noise started at 7:30 AM (Saturday the11th of May 2024) and stopped somewhere towards 22:00. I tried to talk to them, went to the school, politely asked just for a few decibels to be lowered but didn't get any response. When I tried to complain on their Facebook page, the reaction was very hostile, as if I had poked a hornet nest. Therefore, I don't have too much of a choice but to review them on your site in the hope of gaining some result. I even contacted the local ward councilor, asking her to intervene but she she ignored me. To make this experience even more unpleasant, one of the ladies who reacted to my complaint on their FB page even told me to move if I didn't like the noise. This situation, where one must not complain if feeling affected by somebody's action, leaves me with a feeling of being harassed, frankly. I want to know if schools are allowed to host concerts of this level of noise, and if the schools are allowed to create a 12-13 hours noise pollution? May I refer us all to the "Prohibition of. Noise Nuisance 9: "No person shall(a) • operate . or play, . or,· allow . to be. operated . or played, a radio, . television . set, .. drum, . musical · instrument, sound amplifier, loudspeaker system or similar device producing, reproducing or amplifying sound so as to cause a noise nuisance; " from the Noise Control Regulations of 1999. Gauteng Province." I've got the whole document but you don't have the "attachment" button here. My point is that what Unika School did yesterday was unacceptable and the rection of some individuals to my complaint was completely unacceptable. Hoping to be heard out.
