Warning about Uvongo River Resort I want to alert people about my experience with their “damage deposit refund”. I was promised my refund on 17 December 2025, and when nothing was paid, they promised again for 24 December 2025, saying the money would reflect at midnight. Today is 26 December 2025, and still nothing has been paid. When I followed up, I was told the person responsible for payments is “not available” and nothing can be done — yet they are running a business. Please be careful when they say “pay a damage deposit and you will get it back”. Based on my experience, that is not true.

I don't like giving a low rating, but just to warn the public about the fact that this part of the coast and uvongo beach especially has been subjected to the E-Coli virus for years now and we goud out the hard way during our stay in Dec 2024. Our family of 5 were all sick with vomiting and diarrhoea during our 7 day stay over Christmas. The unit was also facing the river (bushes only) and unfortunately there was never any sun to dry the wet clothes left on the stoep.

The place is not family friendly. We were threatened by 6 armed security guards for talking as a family. We were not given a noise warning, rather we were told that we would be removed from the property. We asked for the rule that was contravened by us and we were told to shut up and sleep. What a wasted experience.

Compliments to the Resort Manager and her team. We received such a wonderful welcome upon our arrival. The Manager welcome us at the car and the check in at reception was quick and professional done by Bulelo. Lots of activities on the resort for the kids. Gardens and units well maintained. Will definetely be back.
