Paid R7,606.50 – No Service Delivered | Unfair Retention of Service Fee
I’m sharing this to warn others about my deeply disappointing experience with Elize Uys from Visa Connexion.
On 22 May 2025, I paid R7,606.50 upfront for assistance in securing a US visa appointment. Elize was responsible for booking an interview at the US Embassy. She informed me that a provisional appointment was set for 23 July 2025. Though later than I hoped, she assured me she would expedite the process and attempt to secure an earlier slot.
Trusting her, I assumed she was working on this. I later learned that standard protocol includes an official appointment confirmation email — which I never received. In retrospect, this was the first red flag.
Over two months, I had to follow up 11 times just to get updates. Finally, on 14 July 2025 — just nine days before the supposed appointment — she told me the earliest available slot was now in October. Her explanation: all earlier dates were fully booked due to South Africans seeking asylum.
This turned out to be false.
Out of concern, I contacted another visa agent who showed me multiple appointment slots available before October, she also further explained that there definitely would have been earlier dates than 23 July, but it would have taken a little bit of work. It became clear Elize either did not try or misrepresented the situation.
To make matters worse, I later found out this wasn’t the first complaint. The individual who referred me to Elize admitted to a similar issue happening with someone else — and was deeply embarrassed.
When I confronted Elize, she verbally agreed to a full refund due to the failure to deliver the service. Yet, she only refunded R4,606.50 (the US visa fee) and is withholding R3,000 as a so-called “service fee.”
Let me be clear: * No service was delivered. * The visa appointment was never booked. * No confirmed slot was secured. * I had to start the process over with a new agent.
Retaining a fee for services not performed is, in my opinion, ********* and potentially ********.
I am formally requesting an immediate refund of the remaining R3,000. This process has been a waste of time, money, and trust. I urge others to demand full transparency and avoid working with anyone who does not deliver on their promises — especially when it comes to something as important as a visa.
