This happened in 2020 before covid. Very rude and bad service, people that do not honour their deal. Was looking at a bakkie and went for a test drive, the sales (Ben) mentioned the bakkie is Dekra approved. We were buying the vehicle in cash and agreed on a final price for delivery. During the test drive, I noticed the aircon wasn’t working, and the engine was a bit loud, I took their word that they would look into it as it was Dekra approved, and I paid a deposit. The next day I went back for a second test drive before settling the balance of payment, I brought up this issue in an email to the sales and he asked for our banking details so he could refund us and cancel the deal because apparently he gave us a huge discount and there is nothing wrong with the vehicle, We must take the vehicle as is. Then they wanted to charge us another R2500 admin fee to register the car, which was supposed to be included in the deal, when I refused they said I would have to do all the paperwork and transfer of ownership myself, and they would not look at ANY issues I brought up. When I mentioned this is awkward as they are breaking their side of the deal, he simply said this is business LOL. Business is a mutual agreement on trade, they sent me the offer to purchase but went back on their words, this isn't business, this is FRAUD!
Nevertheless, we were extremely frustrated, but we paid the balance and went for collection. On the agreed time and date I arrived and could not find Ben, I asked the reception and F&I (the F&I lady was much more professional and friendly) and they kept calling Ben to come. We waited over an hour only to find him chatting to another customer outside. I made my presence clear to him and he said he is busy. We waited almost 3 hours for him before collecting of vehicle. This is the kind of service they offer and what you should expect.
I took the vehicle to Dekra as I needed a roadworthy certificate to transfer ownership, Dekra failed the vehicle, two tyres did not pass, and the lights did not pass. I took it to Kia to have the issues sorted out and have a look at the Air con and the car battery since it died the next day of delivery. Kia found the ignition and wiring had been tampered with and it was a MESS, its also the reason why the air con and radio weren’t working, I started to think it was a stolen car! Rewiring of the wires, new tyres, battery, and new lights cost us over R15000 before ownership could be transferred. I doubt they did a Dekra report in the first place, bunch of frauds! If they say it's Dekra approved, please insist on a report for it! Once you start questioning they will threaten to cancel the deal or make you wait HOURS before you could collect the vehicle.
Do I regret my buy? Not really, the vehicle was in a good condition other than the issues we had to sort out. It's the buying experience that is absolutely appalling!
Our company buys an average of 1 car per year, we've bought from all kinds of dealerships but this one definitely tops for the worst service we've ever experienced.
