I have been admitted to Westville hospital for an emergency on 27 October 2025 Dr A------- requested some tests which was done and handed me over to dr B---------, on the 28 October 2025 doctor requested a CT Lumber biopsy nivolay. From October 28 till now, December 15, 2025, Discovery Medical Aid has not authorized the biopsy. For some codes they are awaiting, Westville Hospital is accusing Discovery Medical, and Discovery is blaming the hospital. I have informed Lancet Labs, who is awaiting authorization, that I will cover the R16,000 that the biopsy cost. I'm still in the hospital awaiting the results. I spoke with someone at Discovery again, whose name I know, and he told me the same bull****; they all point the finger at the case managers but are unwilling or unable to provide their names. Ridicules service received from all 3 institutions involved.

I am currently in Highcare at Westville hospital post op day 2. From pre-admission i have been handled with such dedication and care. My night nurse Nonhlanhla have been exceptional and has made what could have been a painfull experience, so understanding and comfortable. The kitchen is impressive, the food is the best that i have ever had and very fresh, and the staff so delightful. I don't leave my review lightly as I have been in and out of hospitals for most of my life... Thank you Westville!

I was rushed by ambulance to the trauma unit on the 21st March, after falling off a ladder. The visual injuries were to face, hand, leg, hip and back. The doctor saw me after 2 hours. After doing a quick 5 second check, he went off. Another 2 hours later, the nurse informs me that the doctor had consulted with specialists and that I need needed scans to the brain, spine, and chest. My wife agreed. About half an hour later, my wife queried the delay advising them that I was in severe pain and nausea. They said they busy with a quote. We were then asked to approve the sum of R24000 for the tests before admission. Noting that I am on comprehensive medical aid. We became concerned and that stressed us further. Given theri neglect and poor care, we then asked for a discharge and they returned with a letter stating that they will not take responsibility and that I refused care. How contradictory, pathetic unprofessional and uncouth behavior. They are more focused on money that care. On one end they express urgency and criticality in my condition, and they forced me towards a discharge, because of not having medical aid respond, noting it was a public holiday. If they cared , they woukd have done what other hospitals do, tro admitt me and povide care but rather they ask my wife I, With pain, I signed the ealease letter. They should have rather asked me tto sign personal liability in the event of medical aid not paying, I must. Given what the doctors assessment was, he would have admitted me immediately and processed me for scans and other tests. This is another pathetic hospital that I will never want to go to again. They never bothered to call me after giving them a bad rating via the survey they sent to me to complete.

I honestly don't know where to start, From being rushed to casualty for severe abdominal pain, to investigations finding gallstones and gastro issues, Upon being admitted I was seen by surgeon TV P. Upon review of my medical aid, the doctor looked at me and said he couldn't help me due to my medical aid not covering the way he does a gallstone removal via laparascopy, my medical aid paid for another procedure that he doesn't do. I then immediately got upset and asked so if you won't assist me what am I here for, he then went on to advising that my gallstones with found coincidently and repeated and harped on my medical scheme, 24 hours later, I am in agony at home on my bed after going back to westville hospital for assistance with a referral letter for me to get into A different hospital. From the head matron to Mark the doctor management, all rude useless and ************** on a whole new level I am lost for words with the private Healthcare system.

My husband was admitted as an emergency on 5/01/2025. After 6 hours he was admitted to a ward. he was in for severe dehydration and was put in the care of a cardiologist who did nothing. On the 6th I requested the Specialist Physician my GP recommended. I was told that we could not ask for him!!. The cardiologist had to refer him. I went to his rooms and made the request so he discharged him!!!! Luckily the ward sister knew of this issue and di not discharge him. The Specialist saw him on the 7th to the 14th. However as the hospital did not let Bestmed know , the bills are either charged to us or savings as medical aid was unaware that he was still in hospital. So after many calls to Westville, most going unanswered, the manager's secretary said that someone would phone before the end of business yesterday 16th. Today no luck as Geraldine is unavailable and Kenny put the phone down on me. SO DO NOT GO TO WESSTVILLE as an emergency as this is the 2nd time they ignore why you are admitted and get a cardiologist in. Must be planned with him all along so milk medical aid. I refuse to fill in the hospital survey as they always cover up their shortcomings and nothing changes

Had the greatest experience with the Little Life Workshop held on the 30th November 2024. Very informative, and the tour of the Maternity and Pediatric ward was a great experience for a first-time mum to be. The Doctors had provided me with relevant information on how to handle future situations and the nurses are so pleasant with all smiles. This has made my mum journey abit easier to know what to expect when the time arrives. Thank You to Westville Life Hospital for the informative workshop.

I cannot thank the team at Life Westville Hospital enough for the incredible care they provided to my mum (R Anamala) during her recent hospitalization. From the moment she was admitted, the staff showed unparalleled compassion and professionalism, not only towards her as a patient but also towards us as her family. Dr. Duze, her cardiologist, was outstanding. He explained everything thoroughly, from her angiogram to the decision for a bypass, and reassured us every step of the way. His kindness and ability to make us feel informed and comfortable were truly remarkable. Her cardiothoracic surgeon, Dr. K. Ncgobo, was equally amazing. His passion and dedication shone through in the way he addressed all our fears, taking the time to explain the procedure and ensuring we felt reassured during such a stressful time. The CCU and High Care nurses have been phenomenal. Their loving and attentive care has not only helped my mum recover beautifully but also given her the emotional support she needed. They kept us updated throughout, and their warmth made a world of difference. The entire team at Life Westville Hospital is truly God-sent. Their dedication, affection, and commitment to their patients and families are beyond exceptional. We are forever grateful for the outstanding care they provided to my mum and the support they extended to us. Thank you for everything!
