A traumatic 7-night stay at Wex 1, City Club property in Cape Town. Booking.com and City Club Hotels have failed significantly in their duty of care, safety, and professional conduct. Misleading Advertising: The apartment is nothing like the pictures. Do not be fooled; the high-quality photos on the platform are a complete misrepresentation of the actual filthy, dilapidated state of the unit. Sanitation & Health Hazards: The unit was uncleaned with a foul odor that caused respiratory distress. The host ignored photo evidence of ****roach infestations and general filth (including old coins and stains). Unfounded Accusations & Racial Bias: Instead of addressing the hygiene issues, the host made offensive, discriminatory remarks about my origin (Johannesburg) and baselessly accused my family of damaging the property. Safety & Gross Privacy Violations: During checkout, staff forcibly entered my room while I was undressed. They stripped the bed with the door wide open to the public and took unauthorized photos of my personal belongings while I was in a vulnerable state. This stay was a gross violation of my Consumer Rights and personal dignity. I demand a full investigation into this property and immediate compensation for the trauma and uninhabitable conditions endured.

Misleading advertising on booking.com makes you think you are booking a unit with pool access, and a unit advertised as deluxe is anything but; poorly ventilated units with broken air cooler and a large fan. Did not respond to our messages, only a tiny fan during a heatwave is inexcusable. A disc to use the elevator that never worked even though we advised on arrival that it didnt work.

I would not recommend this accommodation to anyone! The interior of the apartment is done beautifully but not practical at all, no space to plug phone and hairdryers. The owners makes sure to sell all the amenities in the building, on arrival not functioning. The location is literally on the wrong side of the tracks! Absolutely atrocious! There are 2 lifts for a 9 story building, getting your luggage in and out is an absolute nightmare.

I would not recommend this accommodation to anyone! The interior of the apartment is done beautifully but not practical at all, no space to plug phone and hairdryers. The owners makes sure to sell all the amenities in the building, on arrival not functioning. The location is literally on the wrong side of the tracks! Absolutely atrocious! There are 2 lifts for a 9 story building, getting your luggage in and out is an absolute nightmare.

Absolutely appalling. We book 3 apartments to share for 6 people. 1 Superior, one with a balcony, one with a Mountain View. No. 609, 729, 633 1. The rooms were the same size. 2. The rooms were suitable for 1 person. 3. No mountain view, just dirty surroundings 4. No balcony 5. The room was not a separate 1 bedroom. 6. One of the rooms smelt like cigarettes. And not fresh at all. 7. They could not help when we called. These people should be deported. Don’t believe the pictures

Apartment wasn't cleaned .... checked in on Saturday the 05 October 2024.... room 356 ... The coffee table had lines white lines of cocaine , this clearly proves that the apartment wasn't cleaned .... we saw a big fat co****roach .... The mattress Protector had blood stains ... the bedding wasn't changed as well as the make up powder was brownish on the pillowcases .....Yes the place is affordable and the staff at the reception are friendly but the Room was completely dirty ....we are highly disappointed.

Wex 1 apartments Capetown Grey and yellow apartments looks are deceiving We lost our R5000 for 5 nights, smelly places, stingy, Nigerians.. we spend hours knocking door to door in other side of town looking for alternative accommodation. If you want to find yourself stranded then book in this place. The host doesn't communicate haven't been answering our whatsapp since time of booking till we arrived. We got opportunity to see him.. he is a Nigerian, no remorse for a dirty place which smell and look unsafe. I told my partner that there is no way am sleeping in that shirty place regardless of the fact we already paid. We lost the money but our life and health first . Don't be a victim stay away.. **** reviews and our ignorance of avoiding the red flags we saw from day 1, costed us a fortune The place seems like a prostitution hub Room 634

This place smells like a smoking lounge yet the rules stipulate that there's no smoking allowed. They are taking ages to respond and they don't answer the phone nor prioritize the person who is staying over

My experience is already dreadful. Place looks preoccupied before I even arrive. They smoked and left ashed by the windowsill. This place smells like a smoking lounge yet the rules stipulate that there's no smoking allowed. They are taking ages to respond and they don't answer the phone nor prioritize the person who is staying over

Dear Wex Management, I hope this message finds you well. I recently stayed at Wex with my fiancé this past weekend, seeking a relaxing retreat from our usual routines. While we were initially impressed by the beautiful and artistic design of the building, both inside and out, I regret to say that our overall experience did not meet our expectations. Firstly, the public areas, including the corridors and the pool, were aesthetically pleasing and well-maintained. However, our room had several issues that detracted from our stay. The sink and toilet seat were patched up with paint filler, which looked quite unpleasant. The cutlery and glassware provided were substandard and did not match what was advertised online. We found mismatched and missing items, and the condition of the kitchen was disappointing with only one stove plate working and the oven being non-functional. Additionally, when we requested extra pillows and toilet paper via your WhatsApp line, we received no response. Even after approaching the reception with security, we were advised to contact the team again, but still, there was no reply. Moreover, the duvet cover in our room was torn, adding to the discomfort of our stay. Despite the impressive aesthetics of the building, our overall experience was disappointing. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate it a 4. I hope you take this feedback into account to improve the quality of service and amenities provided to future guests
