Poker players beware of this hell hole
Poker players beware of this terrible Hell hole. Hello Friends, this is my last night in South Africa and I will be leaving soon. But be careful of Winston Pub, Smit street in Randburg for the following reasons: 1) the owner makes poker games regularly, but I've been watching and losing money, he rakes a lot of money and he collects money for the jackpot and (straight flush) he seems to win all the time, how is this possible? Normally people get this lucky once a year. In addition to this, the house does not want to buy the new cards because they mark thier cards and do not change them when requested, it's been several times when I've been told " yes sir, I will change them on the next game". 2) I believe that a lot of non legal activities happen on the premises, lots of gangsters come and go in the back often, I don't even want to know what goes on behind closed doors, a lot of motorbike gangs come as well, I cannot stress how this affects my safety as well as others around me. 3) there are a lot of Afrikaners in this pub and they are very ****** towards the black staff and customers, this is unacceptable, especially for what the black people have been through in this country. 4) finally, I've seen the state of the kitchen, it is filthy, I've seen rats run around, but that's because there is blood stains on the floor and walls. This is a healthcare crisis as Winston Pub staff are serving this unsafe food to the public, I honestly feel sick, even the alcohol is watered down and mixed - whiskey, gin and vodka. My friends, please heed my warning Winston Pub may look nice on the outside, but trust me, it is a hive of **** and villany, please do not go here for your health and your hard earned money. The owner does not care about anyone but himself and he is greedy

For what it is; a pub in the neighbourhood, it's just great.
Steaks were OK and cooked well, but don't expect A grade meat considering that you're paying under R100 for steak, chips and onion rings. Music was extremely loud for a Tuesday, but it created a great vibe, people dancing and others playing pool. It's everything you'd expect from a pub. I'll be back for sure...

For what it is; a pub in the neighbourhood, it's just great.
Steaks were OK and cooked well, but don't expect A grade meat considering that you're paying under R100 for steak, chips and onion rings. Music was extremely loud for a Tuesday, but it created a great vibe, people dancing and others playing pool. It's everything you'd expect from a pub. I'll be back for sure...

AVOID THIS BAR AT ALL COSTS!!!
I would give this pub a negative rating if possible. After an enjoyable evening helped by great staff, I was listening to music outside with my friend when we were approached by a male who we were told is the owner of the pub. The first words out of his mouth were "**** OFF", not please turn down/off the music, we were actually confused at first as we did not know what the issue was and when we asked we were told "**** OFF WITH YOUR MUSIC, GET THE **** OUT OF HERE". Firstly we were not playing it especially loud and secondly we were never told or asked to turn it down/off. We immediately turned it off and told this extremely rude man that we were sorry and all he had to do was ask us to which he responded "**** OFF, GET THE **** OUT NOW, I DON'T WANT YOU HERE!!!". I don't know if he was drunk or high on something or has anger management issues but he was not acting in a rational manor at all. This is not how you treat paying customers or anyone for that matter. At NO point whatsoever were we ever rowdy or caused any disturbance or issues. We completely accept that he felt the music was too loud and did not argue at all and turned it off immediately. Whoever this man is (owner or not) he is a disgraceful man with no common decency and is a burden to the business and society! After a few more disgusting and unjustified insults from him, he waited in his grey VW watching us leave before he sped off at way above the speed limit and as I passed the street he turned down I saw a dead cat that has been run over (cant post the picture), I cant confirm 100% if he indeed ****ed this poor cat but I did not see any other cars around nevermind anyone going down that street. To sum it up, that is no way to behave or to speak to anyone. He did not even try resolve or handle the situation with any professionalism or decorum especially when he was being spoken to calmly, politely and in a rational manor and he should definitely not be in any management position.
