Disappointing Experience with Manager Beven I'm writing to share my disappointing experience at Wok n Roll Sandton. We had a great dinner, but the service after paying our bill was unacceptable. Manager Beven claimed one of the payments didn't go through, despite proof of payment. He became aggressive and rude, harassing us with demands to pay again or sit In the restaurant till the system is working again. When we refused, he called security on us. The head of security, Themba, intervened. He logged an incident report and exchange personal details. The next morning, Beven called to apologize, saying the waiter had billed the payment to a different table. However, his apology seemed insincere as he called his behaviour “a little rude”. The incident was distressing, we were embarrassed in the restaurant, we felt belittled and disrespected. I hope you'll take steps to address Beven's behavior and ensure customers are treated with respect. *Details:* - Date: [Date] - Time: 20:50 - Bill: R1032 (inclusive of tip) - Manager: Beven I hope this review will help bring about necessary changes.

I had one of the worst experiences at Wok n Roll. I paid R1200, showed proof it went off my bank, yet staff claimed it didn’t reflect and demanded I pay again. Four waiters surrounded us, and when I said I’d never experienced this before, one rep****, “It’s happened to a lot of our customers.” I said, “So you know this happens, yet continue overcharging with no refund or timeline?” An Asian man, who seemed to be the manager, laughed in my face and walked away. My boyfriend paid again under pressure, so we were charged R2400 for a R1200 bill. I asked for a refund and was told “maybe Monday,” “maybe Tuesday,” “I don’t know.” No receipt, no confirmation, no accountability. When I expressed frustration, a waiter rolled his eyes and walked away mid-conversation. I eventually walked out disgusted. This place is careless, unprofessional, and disrespectful. I’ll be warning everyone to stay far away.

Wok N Roll @ the Marc. Dined at the restaurant in November 2024, had the sushi buffet, great quality and awesome service. Visited again in April 2025, restaurant has had such a downfall since the last visit. We made a reservation as we were a big group, however we had to wait for the team to get the tables set up for our group. Sushi tasted as if it was days old, tasteless, boa buns were hard and chicken overcooked. We had one waiter assisting our table, we were 14 guests , while she also had other tables to attend, causing delays and confusion with our food & drinks orders. Bathrooms were in a terrible state, dirty and basin was overflowing , to the point where we had to walk around looking for other bathrooms to use. Manager only bought us the bill and that was all we saw of him since we got there. Definitely wont be back.

Wok n Roll @ The Marc Sandton - Terrible experience! I ordered the spicy beef ramen. It was absolutely awful!! It came with tons and tons of algae. So much so that the entire dish tasted like the ocean. The egg was ice cold and well done. However the menu states it is a soft egg. It was inedible! The rude manager Gift came over and started arguing with me. Telling me I am wrong because it’s his best seller. Refusing to take his item off the bill. My husband gave me the rest of his meal and I asked Gift if I could please finish this meal as it was getting cold. He ignored my request and stayed at my table arguing some more and asked me to “find a middle ground” with the ramen I sent back. Disgusting behavior for a manager.

This is by far the worst restaurant food my husband and I have ever experienced. To start with, it was totally empty at lunchtime. So we decided to give it a try, and took our seats. I love different Asian food, and as they had duck on the menu, I decided to try it. My husband, always cautious stuck to chicken. The food was a long time in coming, and just as we were about to ask where our food was, it arrived. OMG I couldn’t believe what I saw on my plate. Duck is supposed to be soft and delicious, and as the most expensive item on the menu, I expected something edible. The duck was dried out and rubbery. My plate was ice cold, so my meal had to go back to the kitchen to be reheated. The duck had been in their freezer probably for months. It was so gross, I refused to eat it. My husband said his chicken was barely edible, but way better than the disgusting mess on my plate. We complained. The owner/chef was sitting in the sun outside under an umbrella reading the newspaper. The waiter went to the Chinese owner to convey our disgust. He never got up and came to speak to us, he just sat there with his coke bottom glasses, and barely said a word. We refused to pay the full price and we said we wanted a discount. We got a minimal discount, and it was a gross experience with the owner not giving a damn. They say they employ professional Asian cuisine chefs from Asia. Well if this is the best they can do, we should have refused to pay the entire bill 100%. Don’t go there, tell your friends, it’s right in the centre of Sandton. Now we know why it was empty. Tasha’s restaurant right next door, was full of happy customers. It should have been a warning. Tasha’s we’d been to before, so decided to try this awful Wok n Roll. What a waste of money. We did not even give the waiter a tip. BE WARNED.

If I could give this restaurant a minus 50, I would. I ordered Peking Duck at almost R300. And asked for a hot plate. My food arrived on a cold plate. The duck was so dried out and so unappetizing, I put my plate aside. Plus the duck was ice cold. I asked the waiter if the duck should be served hot or cold, and he said “hot”. Well it was cold and as dried out as shoe leather. The pancakes that came with the duck were just dried out and ice cold. We ordered rice as an “extra”. Which cost a fortune. It too was ice cold. This restaurant which could easily take 100 or more people, was empty, but for us, and two other patrons. Don’t for your own sake, go and order anything from this restaurant. It’s quite disgusting. I now have a “worst ever meal” in my life. We ordered rice, as an extra,
