I recently submitted a claim to my short term insurer Zenith for storm damages at my second home. I put in a claim for R27 000 worth of damages. I had moved house in December of last year 2022 in the midst of a divorce. I sent the request to change address to my broker but unfortunately he did not receive my email and thus the address was not changed. The house I moved to is in the same area as the old house and this the risk is similar and we had only lived there for just over a month before the storm damage was incurred and thus they had not lost out in possible additional premium for more than a month or two. Their response was that I had the wrong address on the policy and that when the assessor had finished his/her assessment that my new home was worth R7 000 000 and the old one was worth R3 000 000 and that they would be prepared to pay just over R10 000, after excess deduction, of my claim because technically my home was underinsured and insurance average was being app****. We then went to the trouble of providing proof to Zenith of the size of each property to prove that the previous property could not be worth (rebuild cost) so much less than the new one and thus that they were offering too little. The old house is in fact 78% the size of the new house and thus they should be offering us R21928.14 minus the excess.. My broker also sent proof of the email I sent (which I resent to him) instructing him to change the address and a letter explaining the situation to them and the fact that I had forgotten to follow up due to the divorce and the move. Zeniths response following all of this is that I should've followed up to make certain it was done and that they were not prepared to offer any more on my claim. I feel that this is not treating the customer fairly at all. The risk had not changed much as it was the same area and the rebuild cost of the new house is certain not almost 300% more than the old house. I feel they should have taken the additional premium that they would have charged for the new house which is minimal because it is not worth 300% more than the old house as the assessor alleged and we had only been in the new house for just over a month before the storm damages occurred and the risk factors are similar as the new house is in the same area as the old house and is built with similar materials (ie the new house is not a thatch or a log cabin), in which case they could've paid my claim in full. Due to the fact that this has been going on for quite some time and we need to complete the repairs to our home to avoid further damage, we were forced to sign the agreement of loss for R10 000 as we could not delay any further. I dont understand how a company can tell us the basis of their calculation and when we proved it was wrong they would not amend their offer. I have been a client with Zenith for quite some time now and in light of the above I feel that my claim was definitely not handled fairly. All of this to avoid the additional R17 000

So the guy from Camperdown company in Rustenburg mistakenly bumped my car from behind in a four way stop, we exchanged contacts and everything, the guy acknowledged and took full responsibility of his mistake, did the statement and submitted a claim for both his car and my car to his insurance (Zenith through Nedbank Insurance). Nedbank forwarded the 3rd party claim to Zenith insurance and Zenith sent it to their lawyers Welgemoed Attorneys who are now responding to me that "Our client's driver confirmed that you made aa sudden emergency stop, approximately 3/4 lengths from the stop street, kindly confirm the reason you made the sudden emergency stop." I the responded to them that there was NO sudden emergency stop from my side as the incident happened in a four way stop and were 2 cars in front of me and I stopped as usual . The frustrating part with the whole thing I am the one who is following up with every about this, its been more than a month now. I had to call these lawyers to alert them that I responded to their e-mail and even sent a follow-up e-mail requesting a final outcome, a week later, there was still no response from them or Zenith. I had to call them and inform them that I responded to their e-mail and I am awaiting feedback, that's when they told me that they are not going to fix my car because of the reason they stated in the original email. I requested that they respond to their client who submitted the claim so He is aware that they decided not fix my car , then they told me I can inform them myself referring to the e-mail they sent. The frustrating thing with this whole situation is that Zenith in not informing their client that they are not going to fix my car. I am the one one who must do all these back an forth communications but I am the victim in the whole situation and worst part, the person who bumped my car is accepting and acknowledging his error but his insurance is having their own version of the issue.

In September last year I was unfortunately involved in a fender bender that could have been avoided had the driver been paying attention. I had arrived at work and pulled up at the parking boom, only to be stuck behind a lady, Sandra Odijk, who was unable to access the car park. In the spur of the moment the lady threw her car into reverse and before instinct could kick in, bright reverse lights lit up my life and the rear end of her car married the front end of mine. After exchanging details, the lady informed me that her insurance agent would tend to the matter and sort out my third party claim. I had filled in all the forms and submitted, having read the T&C's which stated that the claim would be processed in 60 days. Here I am, more than 100 days later with no feedback. I had followed up multiple times with the lady who put me in touch with an agent, Charmaine Wessels. The agent put me in touch with a call center agent. The call center agent put me in touch with n attorney. The attorney said the claim in in process and that was the last I have heard back. I had tried contacting the lady again who has not responded to calls or SMS's. Claim number: 26509

They threatened me by saying that they will wash out my dirty laundry in public if I do not withdraw my claim. A year and a half further and still busy with it....

I am a 3rd party claimant. The claim was and is still not resolved. According to Zenith claim document ,I should be compensated 100% and it is a straight forward process/claim. However , I submitted the claim and when I followed up a week later,I was told that they , Zenith, are extremely busy with serious claims after a storm, which occurred recently. I would like to state that my claim was submitted before these storms occured. The Responce from the agent Sylvia Erwee, I quote "we can take up to 60 days to deal with a claim and if I don't like this , I should complain with the Ombudsman." Her attitude seemed very arrogant. A few weeks later I followed up again with an email and days later I received a response that my claim is under review with the assesor, then another week later , after I had to follow up, she received the documents and she is reviewing the assesor documets. I contacted Sylvia on Monday 23 November and was told I would receive an update within 24 hours. I have not received any update , today being Thursday 26 November. I have left messages for her and the Branch manager to contact me , neither of them have done so. The reception does not seem to pass on a call if don't you state your claim number either . I have also experienced their poor telephone manners ,in which the phone are left on the desk while I wait , more than one occasion. I will never recommend Zenith insurance , regarding the outcome of my claim . My claim isn't a million Rand claim . However big or small a client / individual is, service delivery and professionalism is what people deserve and Zenith insurance don't deliver !

Zenith insurance is a fraudulent insurance company, I say this to anyone that is looking for insurance or that is going to go through a 3rd party claim I have voice recordings as proof which I am going to post on social media platforms regarding a 3rd party claim which is 2 months overdue now and they response is "the matter is being dealt by they attorneys which they attorneys is a small law practise called is welgemoed law ",when you call welgemoed law you will be transferred to a lawyer his name is Stefan and he will tell you lies on lies everyday that he hasn't received any response regarding my 3rd party claim, so I have taken it upon myself is that I will expose the 2 companies (zenith insurance and welgemoed law both of which are based in cape town South Africa) for they lack of competency via social media platforms as well as peruse legal action against the 2 companies zenith insurance and welgemoed law for firstly wasting my time and secondly to expose a fraudulent insurance / law practise syndicate which is occurring, I would hate for another individual to go through the same stress I have went through for the past 2 -3 months when you call zenith insurance you will be transferred to a lady called Sylvia Erwee that just blatantly lies about your process of your 3rd party claim application, and secondly when you call welgemoed law you will be transferred to a guy known as Stefan which I believe is his law practise and hell also blatantly lie to you both companies will talk utter bull****, *PS don't be a client of zenith insurance, and secondly a law practise which lies as well is a scam stay away from welgemoed law as well. Sylvia Erwee from zenith insurance and Stefan from Welgemoed law, I will make sure I publically slander them via all forms of media for the utter waist of time and bull**** they have given me

<p>In February '17 I was involved in an accident where another vehicle drove into me whilst statianory...0% fault on my side, 100% neglegt from the other driver. I've been struggling for 3 months now to get hold of anyone at Zenith Insurance to process a 3rd party claim....no luck! Eventually two weeks ago a laywer (Welgemoed Law) sends me a mail telling me that they are only partly responsible. I requested feedback from him on what exactly that entails, since no settlement amount was mentioned. Two weeks later no response. When I sent him an email this morning to ask what is going on I get a response like this: "<strong>Neem verder kennis dat u nie ons kliënt is nie en dat ons geen plig het om ‘n diens aan u te lewer nie."</strong></p> <p>I have been driving for 3 months with a bumped up car and Zenith Insurance feels nothing!!! How can a company like this still have customers and do business!!!!!!</p> <p> </p> <p> </p>
