I had a very disappointing and stressful experience with Alpha Metering. They disconnected my ability to purchase electricity without warning and were extremely rude when I tried to resolve the issue. Instead of offering a solution, they insisted that I pay a R175 “late payment fee” — a charge that was never explained, agreed to, or communicated beforehand.
The entire interaction felt unprofessional, and the service delivery was poor. I felt as though I was being held ransom just to restore access to a basic necessity.
I have since reported the matter to the Rental Tribunal. After engaging with them, I learned that disconnecting electricity in this manner is not allowed.
I am sharing my experience so that the community is aware of what I went through when dealing with this company. I hope this helps others make informed decisions.
