On 24 July 2014 ** of Alu-Trellis came to my residence to give me a quote for burglar bars and security gates. The quote was amended as the security gate for the front door was larger than initially quoted. I also did not have a problem paying the difference as **** made sense of the situation. The gates and burglar bars were completed late August 2014 after many arguments with Brent (the installer) as he had many excuses for taking his time to complete the above-mentioned. In February 2016 I noticed the (x) flints were corroding and breaking off so I contacted *** via whatsapp. She told me to contact the supplier via email which I did. After many emails with ****and Brent, arrangements were made to remove the gate on 2 April 2016 (Saturday) at 10am, he sent me a message at 1pm that day saying that he is unable to remove the gate. He then said he would make a plan to remove the gate the Sunday (3 April 2016), he also did not show up nor did he let me know. I then handed the matter over to the lawyers where they were liaising with Brent to find out when he would remove the gate for repairs. Arrangements were then made for Saturday (23 April 2016) at 0830am. I sent Brent an sms on Friday (22 April 2016) with my unit number and home telephone number. According to Brent he tried contacted me on Saturday morning to find out who will be at home and who will open the gate for their workers, even though he was aware arrangements were made for someone to be at home. He did not show up again and at 1035am I called Brent to find out what was happening. He told me he tried contacting me and since there was no response he sent his guys away. I then asked him when he would remove the gate; he said he would do it during the week. I mentioned to him if that is the case then he would have to reimburse me as I would have to take leave from work. He then told me I should not speak to him like a child and he hung up. On their website (www.alutrellis.capetown), they say that their gates come with a 10 year anti-corrosion guarantee; however mine started corroding before 2 years. They also state that all gates are insurance approved, however since my gate is in the condition it is I am sure that would not be the case. The pic that is attached was when I noticed it corroding in Feb. It looks much worse now.
