I had a bad experience with Max. He did some electrical work and issued me a COC which was a requirement as I sold my house. The transfer attorney then requested Max's accreditation First he took our calls but then he blocked our numbers. We have then written to ECA and Department of Labour to see if we can get Max's accreditation. But with no luck. We received the following feedback from ECA. So please be careful when you make use of AMPS Electrical, he is not accredited. It is important to clarify the distinction between the Electrical Contractors Association (ECA) and the Department of Employment and Labour (DoEL), as their roles differ. The ECA is a voluntary industry association , and electrical contractors choose whether or not to become members. Membership with the ECA is therefore not a legal requirement in order to operate as an electrical contractor or to issue a Certificate of Compliance (CoC). In contrast, the Department of Employment and Labour (DoEL) is the regulatory authority responsible for enforcing the Electrical Installation Regulations . In order to legally perform electrical installation work and issue Certificates of Compliance, a contractor must be registered with the DoEL as an electrical contractor and have a registered person (e.g. Installation Electrician, Master Installation Electrician, or Electrical Tester for Single Phase) employed by them. Our records indicate that the contractor who issued the CoC is no longer in good standing with the ECA . However, this does not necessarily mean that the contractor is no longer registered with the Department of Employment and Labour , as ECA membership and DoEL registration are separate. While the ECA is not in a position to formally deem a Certificate of Compliance valid or invalid, I have reviewed the document and noted a number of amendments, missing fields, and sections that appear to have been completed incorrectly . In my opinion, these issues would call the validity of the certificate into question and could potentially render the CoC invalid. Should you wish to confirm the contractor’s current registration status, this would need to be verified directly with the Department of Employment and Labour , as they maintain the official register of electrical contractors.

Finally a review on this company!!!! back in on the 3rd of june 2024 - YES!! its been that long ago - I cant get over it!!! The guy (Mr. Max) seemed very helpful and knowledgeble , BUT what would have cost in components (R1160) and normal labour (even if it was R1200 for 30 minutes) landed up costing me a staggering R9'264.00!!! The guy literally made up the value of invoice as it came to mind. I still have the invoice and proof of payment to remind me of this shark!!! subsequently when i app**** for a COC electrical compliance certificate - hiw wiring was in error. steer clear from this guy!!

I was charged R16,000.00 for a job that should've been no more than R7,000.00. This was confirmed by the SA Electrical Board and three other long standing electrical companies. Needless to say, it has been an absolute struggle to speak to the owner Max, since he did the job. I referred the matter to the SA Consumer Board; however, they encountered the same that the case had to be closed. My next step is the Ombudsman. DO NOT MAKE USE OF THIS COMPANY!!

Amps Electrical are con artists. They have unprofessional Electrician who over charges for a simple job. I had to follow up with Max - who is the owner of the business. He was late on the Friday and only come on the Saturday morning. First off all he did not have a ladder which I had to provide him with one. He fixed a simple wiring problem which was caused by my tiler. I requested that Amps Electrical to connect the new plugs in the kitchen. Max's response is he will have to do it on a another day. Max was on there for 25 min and processed to charge R 2,500 for such a simple job. Please do not use this company as they are con artists.

DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY - the electrician "Max" (real name Mike Levy) will attempt to con you. Previous companies he had include Day Night Electrical and Arck Services (their reviews on Hello Peter are dismal and show how many people Mike Levy has conned in the past). Once the company's reputation is finished, he starts a new company - the latest is Amps Electrical.

MAX was called out to fix my DB boards, plugs, etc, in March 2025. He originally quoted me R70K for the job, but then it jumped to R138K !! I paid since I had to carry on with my business. I politely asked him SEVERAL times to send me an itemised billing invoice for insurance purposes, but he promised and never sent it to date. I believe I was HIGHLY overquoted/****med. Be aware!
