I don't know the policy about naming and shaming, and if it goes against these guidelines, please advise, and/or remove this post.
I've subsequently moved out of Victoria Mansions which is managed by Annette Laing. Mike Power was the Property Manager during my stay and thus moved to David Scannell (https://annettelaing.co.za/meet-the-team/).
Let's just add, I was an owner and a trustee at the complex, and whenever there was an issue, I had emailed and then called Mike Power to have the issues resolved. Not only did I get a nonsense reply, there was no urgency in the way things were handled, nor any acceptance of wrongdoing on their part. Even to go as far as to say, a broken wall, of which had damaged a tenants car, was not their fault, it is up to the vehicle owner's insurance. It is stated that the car can park there, and after this occurred, 'Vehicles parked at owners' risk' signs were put up. To date, I doubt the insurance paid to have the car repaired.
I've moved out a month ago, and David Scannell had sent a levy invoice to the attorneys which was handling the transfer. The attorney had informed me, when I queried the amount, and showed me the statement. I contacted David and Michael about the error, and I had made a comment about something else, and Michael proceeded to speak about that issue, and not the current issue. The levy statement showed an amount for November and December, with an interest amount for November. Bear in mind, these amounts are to paid a month in advance. We had paid our levy statement for November, and David did not provide this NEW statement to the attorney (this is when they could get the extra amount paid). Also, we were not to pay for Dec (this is another amount they put in for) as we did not stay there any longer. We are to be refunded the amount for December (that was paid by the attorney and the interest shown for the month we did pay)
This issue has been dragging for 2-3 weeks with no correspondence, and possibly not going to be until the new year, and every day, we are out if the interest we could be making on this.
So, if you have a sectional title, and you are managed by Annette Laing, make sure your 30, 60, 90 & 120 days have a 0 balance, because you will be told that that is nothing, and you don't need to worry about it. My accounts were all up to date, but on their books, I'm owning money. ALSO, we were informed they DO NOT HAVE AN ACCOUNTING DEPARTMENT. Yes, no accounting department, and thus your monies will never be right.
