i purchased a pre-owned polo gti and the reverse light was not working. The car failed roadworthy until this was fixed. Considering the car has full VW service history, i took the car to Autohaus Centurion to assist. i was a walk-in-customer and the car was booked at 9:30am and was advised the car will be ready at 11:30am. i waited at your offices and to my dismay the car was not ready. On following up i was told the car is next in line and it will be attended to shortly. At approximately 13:30pm, they started working on the car. After 20 minutes, i was told they need more time with the car, another 2 days to strip the dashboard, etc. i needed to make alternate transport arrangements and could not leave the car for 2 days on such short notice. It was indicated that it could be the control unit and that i need to pay the diagnostics now although the reverse light was not working nor could they provide a precise fault reason. The service person advised that they checked the fuses and the bulb and i had to pay for the diagnostics. Further to that, when i bring the car back at another time, i would still need to pay the diagnostics fee again should the quote be rejected. this made no sense to me, i tried to reason with the service person and they were adamant that i pay.

Speaking to the previous owner, another VW assessed the car and was advised the bulb needs to be replaced. It was too expensive for the bulb and it was not replaced at the time. I took the car to another garage for a second opinion and it was found that bulb and fuse needed to be replaced. The reverse light is now working.

Autohaus Centurion charged me for a diagnostic which they mentioned they checked the fuses and bulb - and it was not that. This is really disappointing service and i am requesting a refund.
