A 2017 Volkswagen Move UP 1.5 was purchased after seeing a Facebook adverti*****t that explicitly stated the vehicle had a full service history. This claim was repeated verbally in front of credible witnesses.
However, once the purchase agreement was signed, the service history was “not available.” Despite multiple requests, the dealership ignored it, and it eventually became clear that no service history existed at all.
When requesting to return the vehicle and cancel the sale due to this misrepresentation, Autohaus Angel resisted for weeks. They finally agreed to take the car back but refused to acknowledge their breach of contract. Instead, they demanded a R8000 cancellation fee, insisting that this was non‑negotiable, even though the cancellation was entirely due to their false advertising.
This was their exact response:
“Please see signed by your client where they accepted the terms of sale which includes cancellation costs. These figures are not negotiable. Please let me know if you would like to proceed with the cancellation or not.”
All reasonable attempts to avoid unfair penalties failed. As a result, we will now pursue action through small claims court to recover the ********ly charged fee, with interest, and escalate the matter to the National Consumer Commission, through referral, to ensure this dealership is held accountable.
Consumers should be extremely cautious when dealing with Autohaus Angel. Their tactics are misleading, ********, and penalize buyers even when the dealership is at fault.
FYI the vehicle is up for sale again on several platforms without any mention of a service history.
