Based on recent customer reviews, Automagic delivers a highly inconsistent customer experience across its branches. Positive reviews praise branches like Gezina, Midrand, Menlyn, and Mustang for excellent communication, friendly staff, and quality workmanship. However, a significant number of customers report poor paint quality, shoddy repairs, broken components returned unfixed, and repeatedly missed completion dates. Lack of proactive communication and blame-shifting when issues arise are common frustrations. Several reviewers warn others to request alternative repairers from their insurance providers, citing damaged trust and additional out-of-pocket costs caused by substandard work.

i send my car there it was booked on the 19 January 2026 and to this day my car is still there i had to go back there in person and see what delay was only to find my car painted with the wrong color. I sent it back last week Friday and they promised they will work on it on Saturday and i will get the car back on Monday, when i phoned them today they didn't pick up my calls at all . i am very disappointed by Auto Magic and frustrated, as this has delayed more things on personal level this is 2 months now

Automagic JHB South (Booysens) service is superb. Well done to the owner Malcolm, Imelia (claims coordinator) and workshop crew. Great service. Your estimated repair timeframes and feedback were spot on. Workmanship was 100%. More than happy to recommend this panel beater.

This company obviously has got so much resources that they charges you even for a quotation. In the event of damage to your vehicle, the last thing you want to hear is that you need to pay more towards the damages that was done not by my actions but someone else’s. So I would rather take my car then to companies that would assist potential customers instead of chase them away.

The reception area is filled with people sitting with their backs to you, they will speak about you and you requests to the receptionist, but do not turn around to engage with you - the customer - this leaves quite a bad taste of entitlement and arrogance. If this was the only complaint, one could live with that. However, the workmanship is less than sub-optimal for what should be a well established panel beating and spray painting business: The car (Audi A4 Avant) came in for dents and deep scratches on the driver's side front and rear door. Poor blocking and filing work has resulted in a now more "corrugated" appeal. the driver's door now only closes with extra force. Voids left from bad prep / blocking work have just been over painted (in the middle of the door). The clear coat has formed beadings at edges of the doors. It appears no one is taking pride in their work, "since it is insurance work, it does get paid for anyway - so why care for excellent service". After the vehicle spent two weeks in the shop to get to this poor state, it will have to go back for "one day" only to rectify these complaints. Please do not take your vehicle to this shop, the work carried out there can be done much better by a number of "backyard" operations.

I have a scratch-and-dent policy that covered my vehicle, and they selected Automagic Strijdom Park. This turned out to be the worst mistake I could have ever made, leaving my car there. The car is black, and now, after trying to fix 2 scratches the size of a grain of rice, the paint is dull and uneven on the side. The lack of feedback extends from the Head Office to the branches. Then Lightstone called for feedback, and when I told them my car wasn't done correctly, they followed up 2 days later to ask whether the branch had reached out to me. I told them no, and they then allowed the branch to appeal and granted it without checking if I im sorted. And now like true magicians, they have disappeared

Automatic Rustenburg is the worst, took my car for mirror cover respray. When they stripped the cover they broke it and tried to hide it with glue/silicon, I only found out when the cover fell as few days later. Took it back in and they insist that the cover clips were broken even though I took the car in with everything intact and they do not have pictures to show or anything. Now they are refusing to pay for the mirror cover. Took my car in for R500 job and now I have to buy a mirror costing +R3k. Not even in a million years will I refer this place to anyone. To make things worse, I called the Customer service and they tell me that can’t help because it was cash not insurance. So meaning it makes me less important since im not a big cooperation.
