Based on recent customer reviews, Bankmed faces severe criticism across virtually all aspects of its service delivery. Customers consistently report unresolved claims, denied chronic medication, ignored communications, and billing disputes. While a small number of members praise individual consultants for exceptional professionalism, the overwhelming pattern is one of frustration, financial harm, and a perceived lack of care from the organisation.

Annual request for transplant medications sent 12 Jan 26 & still not approved 2 months later. All other chronic meds eventually approved end of Feb 26 & even that was a ridiculous *********** delay, but still no transplant LIFE SUSTAINING immunosuppressive meds. Ive repeatedly called & get told its escalated but thereafter zero feedback. Im on my last dose today so accordingly will log my case with the ombud & contact my attorneys & take this to social media. Zero out of town rating Bankmed. Im 12 years post transplant and see my ICD10 code for transplant was also removed from my list of pmb conditions. No one gave you notice or authority to do this. Explain yourselves Bsnkmed! Now I have to run around sending in forms because you stuffed up? Check your damn records & reinstate my transplanted pmb status & authorize my meds.

My dad died on the 31st of October 2025 (I send all the documantation needed), Bankmed went and put his date of death as the 25th of October 2025. I sent the documentation again stating it was the 31st of October 2025. A guy emailed me stating if my dad died the 25th of October, who was using his medical aid then.(I need that he's manager to phone me and tell me were did he get the 25th of October 2025)I send all documantion through. I'm receiving all the bills and accounts from the 25th of October until the 31st of October. I'm sending emails each day requesting that someone need to phone me please or send me an email regarding this matter. If I request that i need to speak to a supervisor or manager,no one is available. My dad was a member of Banmed since 1969 and this is the way Bankmed want to treat its members that pass away.

In my 20 years of claiming with bankmed I have never had an issue now suddenly for the last 2 months you won't pay out for certain meds because I have gone over the limit and the yearly cycle is from some date per year. It's acute meds that comes off my savings yet you won't claim it, now u have to pay over R500. Why am I paying you monthly for this terrible service?

Bankmed has the most professional staff you will ever come across in any business ever. I've been with Bankmed since 2013 and not once have I ended a call with them and come out feeling sour. They are the most respectful, most professional people I've ever encountered in any business honestly. They will literally bend over backwards to assist their customers. I have a very sickly son and have bothered them many times with many different queries and every single interaction has been the most pleasant.

Both myself and my doctor sent an email for my chronic heart meds. 17th and the 25th. They are basically calling me a **** claiming that there was no attachment and that they have no record of my emails which were definitely sent to them. I have proof of emails sent to x3 different email addresses.

Disgusting disgraceful service from BANKMED. Parents have been with them over 20 years. Ever since Candice Bruinger left a few months ago, service has gone into the gutter. Unhelpful, UNKNOWLEDGEABLE staff with attitude. NO COMPLAINTS MANAGERS EVER BOTHER TO CALL YOU BACK.

Bankmed is the most useless medical aid ever. I have been living with Endometriosis for 10 years and I need to be on treatment to manage it. I have already had 3 operations to have it removed, of which I nearly died on my last procedure. I app**** for chronic benefit this year and last year, but they rejected my application stating that my medical aid plan does not cover Pelvic issues ICD N80.3. Currently I am paying R3,684 per month yet they cannot cover my treatment. I have been on 3 other medical aids previously and not once did I have to debate about why I need treatment. Bankmed is the most useless and inhumane organisation I have ever come across. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone, they don’t care about people’s lives, they are just a money making scheme.

Based on recent customer reviews, this business delivers a consistently strong customer experience anchored by outstanding agent quality and rapid communication. Customers frequently name individual consultants and praise their friendliness, patience, and professionalism. Recurring praise is given to claims and roadside assistance, though a vocal minority report frustrating delays, rejected claims, and poor transparency around premium increases.
This business's biggest strength, according to Hellopeter's AI analysis, is Agent Quality & Customer Care. Named consultants are praised repeatedly for patience, friendliness, and going above and beyond. Words like 'amazing,' 'star,' and 'gem' appear frequently, reflecting genuinely caring human interactions.
The most common complaint, based on Hellopeter's AI analysis of recent customer reviews, is Pricing, Premiums & Transparency. Customers appreciate premium reductions upon request but complain about unexplained annual increases, hidden excess charges, and debits continuing after cancellation. Transparency at policy inception is a recurring gap.
