Bertha Gxowa Hospital
Based on recent customer reviews, Bertha Gxowa Hospital receives sharply divided feedback, with experiences ranging from deeply distressing to genuinely uplifting. A recurring theme is frustration with long waiting times in casualty, perceived rudeness from security and reception staff, hygiene concerns, and reports of missing belongings or inadequate monitoring of patients. In contrast, customers consistently praise the maternity section, highlighting compassionate midwives, attentive postnatal care, and staff who treat patients with warmth and dignity. The pharmacy team and certain individual nurses are also acknowledged for kindness, though administrative systems and emergency response draw repeated criticism.

My experience at this hospital was highly contradictory. As a first-time mother, the postnatal ward was awful; the nurses spoke to me with utter disrespect. Furthermore, the Antenatal Care (ANC) section was even worse, particularly one incredibly rude nurse who expects patients to read her mind and consistently delays assistance. On a positive note, I want to commend the labor ward nurses for their exceptional care, respect, and support while I was in labour

Very ill 61 year old patient was sent there today by the doctor for medication, treatment and x-rays. The unhelpful personell and Dr's said they don't have medicine and their x-ray machine is broken. Someone removed a part of the machine. They send the terminal ill patient home without medication and treatment. When I contacted them the phone just ringing. 3 hours to no avail. Not the reception nor the casualties.

I am incredibly appreciative and grateful to the amazing team at Bertha Gxowa Hospital - Maternity Section. The exceptional care, and support I received when giving birth(16/11/2025) was truly unbelievable. From the midwife who helped me give birth, to the team at postnatal(including the wonderful lady who kept bringing us food and tea to drink) - you are all brilliant. I felt as if I was in a private hospital. You are all a true definition of what "people who are passionate about their jobs" means. Thank you all for being such amazing, caring and kind hearted people and making my experience nothing short of amazing. ππTo add to this, today(30/01/2026) I went back to get a UIF form filled, from the nurses at reception to the nurse(Nomonde Mabunda) who assisted me, thank you very much once again for your exceptional service. God Bless!
