Hi. I recently stayed over at the Blackbrick in Sandton. We booked a room for the the night of the 20th August 2023.
Firstly I requested a quote after a telephone conversation with reception. I was provided email address. They quoted me R1500 and R1800 including breakfast for 2 people. On the website of Blackbrick itself though the exact same room is 1260. I decided not to book immediately but decided I will pay on arrival. When arriving on Saturday, I requested the same room as the quote. I was then charged 1600 for a room and R250 per person for breakfast. When I queried the price, they informed me that the price is the same and maybe it was a special and site not updated. I was really not in the mood for arguments as it was supposed to be a good night out for my anniversary with my wife. I was given room A2 which was not very pleasant. The windows in the room was not opening, the door leading to the balcony was constantly getting jammed as very difficult to open unless using real force. The lounge area had a massive pillar in between couches and TV which was a terrible setup. I had to rearrange the furniture just to be a bit comfortable. I then realized that the room I requested was not the same as this. We decided to just get out of the room and spent the day at the restaurant which was just more comfortable. Spent most of the day out of the room as I was not happy with the condition of the room. After supper, we went to the room and relaxing, we unfortunately we're not able to even sleep till pass 3am in the morning due to the screaming, shouting and loud music that went on. First time ever when staying out, was I checked out by 7.30am and went elsewhere for breakfast. We have stayed in numerous hotels and by far had my worst experience at the Black Brick. I have also sent a mail to the hotel dated the 22.08.2023 which till date has not received any response. Just not good enough.
