Bonsai Estate has the potential to be a truly wonderful place to live, but my experience with the Trustees, particularly in terms of communication and transparency, has been disappointing. The day after moving in, I received a WhatsApp message from the Chairman (not introducing himself, I didn't even know who he was) asking, “Has your dog been approved?” This was the first time he made contact with me, and it certainly didn’t feel like a warm welcome. I rep**** politely, confirming that all documentation had been submitted to the Managing Property Agency and approval was already in place. Four days later, I received an email from the Management Agency instructing me to cease business operations immediately due to “complaints.” No phone call, no clarification, no opportunity to discuss, just a direct instruction to stop. When contacting the Chairman, I was told to speak to the Agency. When speaking to the Agency, I was told they act solely on instructions from the Trustees. It became a frustrating circle with no accountability. I was then informed that I did not have neighbour approval. Going back into the documents, I see that there was a clause stating, “subject to,” but as a first-time estate owner, I had no idea what this clause meant, and no one explained it to me at any point. I submitted all documentation exactly as I understood it at the time, with no guidance or clarification provided. After being told to cease my business, we went to every neighbour in our area. Every single one of them signed a statement confirming that they didn’t even know the business existed and that it was not a nuisance in any way. Only one neighbour, situated behind us, had lodged a complaint, and he openly told us so afterwards. Thankfully, my business is now in a location where I am very happy. I want to be clear: I love my home and my neighbours. Only one neighbour raised a concern (regarding a fan and women chatting), and I hold no negative feelings about it at all. Dogs bark, birds chirp, fans make noise and people chat, that is part of everyday living. My warning to potential buyers is this: make sure you fully understand how everything works before signing, and hopefully someone guides you properly through the process, because in my experience, that guidance was not offered. We were initially told by the estate agent that we did not need dog approval because we were purchasing a freestanding home, only to discover during signing that approval was required. The contradiction caused delays, as we insisted on having our dog formally approved first. Had he not been accepted, we would have cancelled the purchase entirely. Bonsai Estate could be amazing, but communication, consistency, and a more welcoming approach from the Trustees would make all the difference.

I wish I could give Bonsai Estate more than 1 star, but the management experience has been extremely disappointing. There was no welcome or communication when we moved in—not even an introduction from the chairman. We received business approval, and instead of a simple conversation, we were sent a sudden “cease with immediate effect” email days later, without any attempt to speak to us. This is not about what was done, but how it was done. In my view, Amari (the managing agents) follow whatever the chairman says, offering no resident support. Fairness is app**** to certain people only, and it often feels like others are singled out, even though estate transgressions are openly visible everywhere. Our home is beautiful because we made it beautiful, not because of the estate. The bricks are soft, cracked, and poorly made. And it’s not just us—so many neighbours share the same frustrations. This estate could be wonderful, but the trustees and chairman create a stressful and unfair environment.
