I am posting this because I was harassed, intimidated and spoken to disrespectfully by a Bradlows credit agent.
My account is one month in arrears (December). I had already informed Bradlows that I had suffered a family bereavement (the death of my mother) and that I would make payment by the end of January. This was communicated in advance and in good faith.
Despite this, I have been receiving constant calls.
Today, a female agent whose name begins with “M” spoke to me in a hostile and humiliating manner. She told me I should not have taken goods if I could not pay, dismissed my bereavement, and then went further by telling me to give her my home address so she could come and collect the items.
That interaction left me feeling threatened, disrespected and intimidated.
I did not refuse to pay. I explained that I had suffered a death in the family and would pay at the end of January.
No South African consumer should be spoken to this way or threatened for being behind after a bereavement. Especially when they gave notice prior.
I am even considering escalating this matter to the National Credit Regulator (NCR) if this conduct continues.
