Stinking service and attitude

On the 17th of 2026 I bought an electric cord or extension. When I connected it to my plug, it made some funny noises and there was a smell that something is burning, I immedialety disconnected it and took it back to the hardware. They told me that they cannot give me a refund because the extension is damaged and it was my fault because I used the extension for a very long time. The guy was very arrogant and disrespectful towards me. They are selling **** things and refuse to refund the money.
