Bromhoff Vet - A Heartfelt Thank You! I recently had a distressing situation with my 12-year-old Labrador, Dodge, who developed a concerning lesion near his right anal gland. After reaching out to Bromhoff Vet, I was met with compassion and professionalism. They promptly responded to my email and provided much-needed assistance for Dodge. The team at Bromhoff Vet operated on Dodge, removing what turned out to be a benign tumor. The difference in Dodge’s demeanor post-surgery has been remarkable – his ears are up, his tail is wagging, and he seems genuinely happier and more comfortable. The care and expertise exhibited by the staff were exceptional, and I am profoundly grateful for their help during this challenging time. I highly recommend Bromhoff Vet to anyone seeking top-notch veterinary care for their beloved pets.

I am a first time dog owner and adopted a rescue dog. I went to the Bromhof clinic because of the good reviews it had. Dr Tassia examined Fred and found him to be okay, with just my needing to monitor his runny tummy and not give him that many treats. I was assured this was due to the stress of moving to a new place. She recommended I give him a dewormer and a tick fever tablet. To ensure that his tummy settled first, I gave him some chicken and rice in the evening, the next morning, after his walk, I gave him some chicken and rice again and the dewormer. At around 10.30 his tummy started running while we were at a book fair. I took him home and for a short walk. When we got inside, he had a massive diarrhoea and then proceeded to throw up. I called the vet and they said I should bring him quick. I did and I asked if these symptoms could be the work of the dewormer. I was assured both times that it doesn’t affect adult dogs like that. Fred was proceeded to be blood sampled (again), xrayed and put on antibiotics. I was panicked. I didn’t know what was going on. The doctor suggests an ultrasound but I think she sees me pale at the idea and says “Lets monitor him first.” And “He’s calm and well because of the antibiotics I gave him.” A little short of R3000 later, I take my baby home and because my sister speaks with our cousin who is a vet in Mozambique, she gets the advice that DEWORMERS CAN CAUSE SUCH REACTIONS IN DOGS! My cousin says keep him on chicken and rice and monitor. We hold of giving Fred any more meds and GUESS WHAT? He was a happy, healthy, firm stool dog from the Monday onwards!! I proceeded to contact the doctor and the clinic and have requested for a refund as my dog as clearly misdiagnosed AND I feel like I was taken advantage of. First time dog owner who worries over the slightest thing, probably is an easy mark. I’m told Dr Le-Anne will contact me. She does via email, and I was expecting a call from her for more over a week and a half now… still nothing. I really don’t understand why she can’t give me my refund. Suny Lou ********** 026
