We are currently being charged about R500 per month for electricity availability by Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality, yet we have now gone three consecutive days without electricity. This raises a serious concern — what exactly are we paying for? The purpose of an availability charge should be to ensure that electricity is accessible and that infrastructure is maintained. However, there has been no supply and no urgency in resolving the issue. It is unfair for residents to be billed consistently for a service that is not being delivered. If electricity is not available for days, then the charge loses its meaning. We request clarity on what this fee covers and immediate improvement in response times and communication during outages. This situation is unacceptable and needs urgent attention. Concerned Resident
