Very disappointed with my Canon printer and the service received.
I bought this printer only two months ago, and from the beginning it has had the same issue: it prints for about two days, then suddenly stops printing completely. The only way to get it working again is to do an ink flush. After that it prints again for another day or two, and then the problem repeats itself.
Because of the constant ink flushing, the ink that came with the printer — which was advertised to print around 6,000 copies — was completely finished within two months. I have already had to buy replacement ink, and those bottles are already halfway finished because the printer constantly needs cleaning just to function.
I sent the printer in for repairs and explained this clearly. Unfortunately, because I had already done an ink flush before sending it in, the printer was temporarily printing again when they tested it. I specifically asked them to properly test the printer over a longer period because the issue only appears after a day or two of printing.
To make matters worse, I had to pay R500 just to send the printer in, even though this is clearly a manufacturer fault and not something caused by me. Then I received a repair quote of R1,600 for a printer still under warranty — when the printer itself only cost R1,800.
Extremely frustrating experience. Poor product reliability and disappointing warranty support from Canon.
