A friend and I were looking forward to having a meal at the Cattle Baron in Table View on the 25th of January 2025. When we got there, my friend ordered a Chateau 200gm fillet. I order a Chateau 300 gm rump steak.. Hers came and it was lit with brandy etc. Mine came as a rump but not brandy which could be lit. When I asked why the waiter said I had just ordered a rump. I disagreed. I had repeated twice that I wanted a 300 gm Chateau rump. He took my food back and returned with a Chateau 330 gr rump steak, which he lit as per what I had ordered. I could not eat it. It had so much fat on it, that I nearly got sick. I returned it and the waiter brought me another 300 Chateau rump and lit it with the brandy as per what I had ordered. It was better than the first steak he gave me. The head of the kitchen, a lady came to ask me if I had asked for a rump without fat. I have never had to ask Cattle Baron for a steak without fat. At the end of the evening, the second steak was better but not what I am used to at the restaurant. What got to me was that I was charged R40.00 for the brandy that went on the Chateau 300gm rump that I had ordered. I was then charged R40.00 for the brandy used to light my rump I should have asked where on the menu one gets charged for the brandy on a Chateau steak. I am sorry that I did not refuse to pay anything. My friend who had also ordered a Chateau fillet was not charged R40.00 for the brandy to flame her steak. My husband/ friends and I have frequented this restaurant for more than 25 years. It was the worst meal we have ever had there. Needless to say, my friend ordered a steak medium done and it came back raw. She took it home and will re-cook the steak in the microwave. Very very disappointed, I have never complained before about a meal at the Cattle Baron in Table View. The food is not cheap and one expects not to be disappointed. Unless the food improves, my friend and I will never support the Cattle Baron in Table View ever again.

Standards have dropped tremendously and no owners around to speak to. They apparently haven't paid their staff properly for months - waiters only receive CASH TIPS and have to pay in the business's eft bank charges EACH DAY!! *** is that ?!! Shocking !...Definitely floundering. Avoid.

On the 14th February 2023, my wife and I had a very bad experience at this restaurant, HOWEVER, our complaint was escalated to Cattle Baron senior management and the situation has been rectified. We would like to thank the Cattle Baron Group P.R.O., Melanie Nel, for her follow up and execution of restoring our trust in them. Thank you Cattle Baron Table View for making last night special for us. Restored to grace. Blessings

My wife and I have been frequenting Cattle Baron over the past 5 years. We got engaged there on the 14th February 2018 and have been celebrating our engagement there ever since. Last night was to be such a celebration however the evening ended up being a total disaster. We were there for 18:30 and had our main course order in by about 7-ish to end up being served a totally sub standard meal well after 8:30. A bigger group that was in and ordered way after us were served several rounds of drinks and had their main course way before ours arrived. At appr. 20:10 I finally managed to get hold of our waitron, Otto to find out where our food was. 13 minutes she said, very rudely. 13 minutes turned into half an hour. When the food arrived we were disgusted. Shriveled up chips and a piece of meat just plonked onto the plate. I had 300g rump, which is supposed to be 28 day, wet-aged steak, advertised as superior quality beef which was the toughest piece of meat I have ever had in any restaurant. If the meal had been good, we would still have endured. I managed after a couple of attempts to get hold of a manager and asked her calmly to sit down as I wanted to discuss something with her. She profusely apologised for the poor service and food quality and offered, firstly for us to have a "Date night" meal on the house on Thursday night and also, offered us free desert on the evening. She then disappeared to her duties and that was the last we heard from anybody. I could not finish my piece of steak as it was too tough to chew and finally just after nine pm we decided to just leave. My wife went and fetched a container to put my piece of meat in and we got up to go and settle our bill. All of a sudden our waitron appeared. My wife and I, after some deliberation decided that we would give them the benefit of the doubt and take the manager up on her offer. Today I called and spoke to the manager. She said she would discuss it with her boss and get back to me, which she did. The "Date Night" special was then offered as a half price meal, and that was the best they could do. I discussed with my wife and we decided that that was not what was offered to us in the first place so I called back and declined the offer, informing the manager that we would never be frequenting their establishment again and that I would be placing a review on Hello Peter. The saddest thing is, it did not even sound as if it bothered her in the least. A word of advise, avoid Cattle Baron Table View at all costs.
