When I requested for an appointment with Dr Vonkelwyn at the Centurion Clinic on the 11th of November 2025, I specifically asked if I would be able to have the medical procedure done this year, even if my appointment would only be on the 26th of November 2025, and I was told it would not be a problem.
I phoned on the 25th of November 2025 just after 09h30am to confirm my appointment for the 26th of November 2025, and I was told all was in order.
On the evening of the 25th I missed a phone call from the Dr Vonkelwyn office. Shortly after the phone call, at 17h27pm I received an email. I was informed that the appointment was cancelled, no reason given.
I was told that I can reschedule a new appointment in January 2026.
They did not care that I had arranged to take leave in December to have this medical procedure done. I needed a month to recover.
I can't cancel my leave at such a short notice, so that means I will not be able to go ahead with this procedure in January 2026.
If I had known at the time I made the appointment with Dr Volkwyn, that she would cancel my appointment the evening before the appointment day, and that she would not be able to assist me this year, I would never have made the appointment with her in the first place.
I find this extremely unprofessional. You should always treat your clients with respect and care. Word of mouth is your best reference.
