My experience with Chata Tech and Discovery household insurance is very bad. My Whirlpool microwave had an electrical sparks and was full of smoke. Discovery insurance sent Chata Tech to pick it up for evaluation. Discovery insurance rejected the claim because Chata Tech said that it was faulty as a result of wear and tear. This is a microwave that I bought R10, 000 3 years ago. The warrantee was for 2 years. The reason why one gets household insurance is to cover the appliances once its out of warrantee but this is not the case with Discovery insurance. My research shows that a life span of a microwave is between 8 to 10 years. How can Chata Tech says that my microwave stopped working as a result of normal wear and tear. This is nonsensical. Even a microwave of R1500 don't just stopped working in 3 years talk less of a microwave of R10, 000.
My advise is that if you have any insurance claim with discovery household insurance, inform them not to send Chata Tech to pick up your appliances.
