We had storm damage and my son's desktop pc which is in daily use was damaged by rain. Chata Tech was sent by Discovery Insurance to collect pc box. It was all in good working order and acccording to Chata Tech is has failed working due to wear and tear and being old. We insisted pc box be returned and received it back today in shocking condition. So much damage done by Chata Tech and they just claim that is how they received it. But we have photos of condition of pc box when it was handed to their technician. Absolutely shocking that good working things are returned in such a state

My experience with Chata Tech and Discovery household insurance is very bad. My Whirlpool microwave had an electrical sparks and was full of smoke. Discovery insurance sent Chata Tech to pick it up for evaluation. Discovery insurance rejected the claim because Chata Tech said that it was faulty as a result of wear and tear. This is a microwave that I bought R10, 000 3 years ago. The warrantee was for 2 years. The reason why one gets household insurance is to cover the appliances once its out of warrantee but this is not the case with Discovery insurance. My research shows that a life span of a microwave is between 8 to 10 years. How can Chata Tech says that my microwave stopped working as a result of normal wear and tear. This is nonsensical. Even a microwave of R1500 don't just stopped working in 3 years talk less of a microwave of R10, 000. My advise is that if you have any insurance claim with discovery household insurance, inform them not to send Chata Tech to pick up your appliances.

This company is not to be trusted. They have sent out an assessor to determine why our CCTV DVR does not record. Discovery Insure was told the hard drive is broken and they therefor rejected the claim. We believed them and ordered a brand new hard drive. It did not work. We ordered a second new hard drive that also didn’t work. It became evident that something else was wrong. We decided to purchase a brand new DVR and hard drive but the same Provision model. I tested the new power supply in the older machine and it worked perfectly. A lot of money was wasted. They were supposed to properly test the system. A new power supply sells for only R132. Further testing revealed that the hard drive only received a bit more than 6 volts and not the required 12v. This is why it did not record. Do NOT trust these people!

My laptop was sent to Chata tech by my insurance company (Discovery), although I live in Nelspruit, it was sent to them in Gauteng to be fixed...? Only my sceen needed to be replaced, but every corner and panel of my laptop came back to me with scratches, dents and my grips on the back/bottom of the laptop didn't fit in place anymore. It looked as if they tried to open the back with a *****driver or some kind of took strong enough to bend my ports and sharp enough to scratch the frame. Even the new screen had a gap between the screen and frame when I first opened my laptop.
