The treatment I received due to a discrepancy between the surname on my driver’s license and the one on my ID was like I'm a ********. Despite providing the booking confirmation SMS from my cellphone, it was disregarded. I was asked to sign a refusal to comply form and had to wait for about 30 minutes after a long drive from Pretoria. The lack of effort to resolve the issue was evident as the Manager insisted that signing the refusal to comply form was the only solution. This demonstrated an unwillingness to explore other possible solutions, such as sending an electronic ID copy, as advised by the Departmental Travel Agent. I stayed in many hotels (Premier, Garden, Southern Sun, Manhattan etc.) and used the same drivers license with providing the ID and was checked in smoothly because my ID number is still the same despite change of surnames.
