Three years ago my partner passed away suddenly. I have two children from my first marriage and following my partner's death, I could not service my children's student loans and car payment together with all the other expenses. Consequently I signed up for debt counselling with a well known debt counsellor. I stayed with them for about a year, but due to a number of reasons I moved over to Debt Success at the beginning of February this year. They made many promises to help me get out of debt and promised to develop a personal relationship with me. I started receiving messages from FNB, stating that my payments are in arrears. I forwarded these messages to Debt Success. Unbeknownst to me, they ignored the matter. Monthly I would get the messages, forward same to Debt Success. I spoke with them and they informed me that payments are correctly made. I receive a distribution statement from them each month, indicating payments to creditors. FNB appears on the statement, together with the account number. In July I was contacted by collectors, demanding payment from me. I started investigating the matter as nothing was done by Debt Success. I emailed the collectors, FNB and Debt Success in my correspondence all the time. Long story short: Debt Success paid the moneys into my cheque account and not my personal loan account. When I confronted them about it, they said that "the account number was changed". They could not tell me how this came about or who "changed the account". Also, this account number does not match the account number on the statement received from them monthly. They dropped a ball. A big one. And now they avoid me. It is their job to "keep me safe" from creditors and to act in my best interest. They are failing miserably at doing this. I am trying to resolve the matter with FNB and have to now make arrangements to pay the debt AGAIN and settle the arrears which totals more than R17,200. Debt Success is not responding my emails, phone calls or whatsapps. They have thrown me to the wolves. I have no access to them, no help from them to rectify the mistake THEY made. I am obligated to either move over to new debt counsellors AGAIN or to continue paying to Debt Success. However, I don't have the confidence that they will pay FNB into the correct account number! After numerous emails, phone calls, whatsapps, all being totally IGNORED without ANY FEEDBACK or a plan for going forward, or assistance to make arrangements with FNB, I am forced to write this review on HelloPeter, in an attempt to get help and to warn others. They preach Christian values, but have not integrity and no honour. They simply avoid you, they simply ignore you. DO NOT SIGN UP WITH THEM. You will be worse off than before.
