This is by far the worst customer experience in have ever had. I would think they make enough money to employ someone to greet people and tell them where to wait. Nobody minds waiting if they understand what is going on.

I am writing this review to share the deeply frustrating and unprofessional experience I had at the Trauma Unit in early 2025. What should have been a straightforward medical visit turned into a months-long ordeal marked by dishonesty, poor communication, and what I can only describe as outright ****ming. When I brought my daughter to the Trauma Unit, I was required to make an upfront payment despite having medical aid (which was fine). I was assured that this was because medical aid claims "take time," and I would be refunded once my medical aid processed the payment (which i understood). Trusting their explanation, I paid in full, the doctor attended to my daughter, prescribed medication, and we left the same day. Days later, I contacted my medical aid and was shocked to learn that they had already paid the Trauma Unit directly. I was even told that I should be refunded a portion of my payment, as my medical aid did not cover the full amount. I immediately reached out to the Trauma Unit, provided all requested proof of payment and correspondence, and on 13 May 2025, I was assured that my refund would be processed as they confirmed the medical aid paid the amount they informed me they had paid. Since then, I have made countless follow-ups via email and phone calls, only to be met with empty promises and delays. Each time, I was told the refund was "being processed" and that it "takes time." Fast forward to 2 February 2026, when I attempted to email them again, only to discover that my messages are now being blocked. The email bounce-back message states: "Your message to emtrauma@emtrauma.co.za couldn't be delivered. A custom mail flow rule created by an admin at drlouise365.onmicrosoft.com has blocked your message." It is absolutely unacceptable that after nearly a year of waiting, the Trauma Unit has not only failed to refund my money but has now resorted to blocking my attempts to communicate with them. This behavior is unprofessional, *********, and reflects poorly on the integrity of Dr Louise Engelbrecht Trauma Unit. I feel cheated, disrespected, and deeply disappointed. What was meant to be a place of care and trust has instead proven to be a source of stress and financial loss. I urge anyone considering visiting this Trauma Unit to think twice and be cautious about their payment practices. I hope this review serves as a warning to others and that the hospital takes immediate steps to rectify this situation and address their clearly flawed refund process.

So went to trauma, following day I was admitted. This should all be submitted as one claim as this was also a PMB situation. Absolutely disgusted how they constantly choose to use incorrect codes, having patients sort out the incompetence of so called competent practitioners.

Went to trauma unit in December 2022. The admin staff didn't do their job properly,by calling my medical aid for pre authorization, and only got the authorization after I left the Hospital. This caused my medical aid to only pay 70% of the bill, and forcing me to pay 30%. The medical aid plan I was on was suppose to cover 100%. According to my medical aid, it is standard practice to call for pre authorization when a patient walks in, but due to laziness and complete lack of ethics, this wasn't done. Therefore, if you have the misfortune of having to go to this hospital, insist that they call for pre authorization, while you witness them doing it.

My daughter was submitted for treatment which falls under prescribed minimum benefits. I have sent the documents needed for completion as requested by Discovery to pay the account on the 14th of September, the 17th of September and the 21st of September without any response except for them asking me when I am going to pay the account. Surely they should understand how medical aids work and how to complete a form? As a single mother I do not have the money to pay out of my own pocket, hence the reason why we are on a medical aid! Discovery WANTS to pay they just need the completed forms!! The Dr WANTS the money but does not complete the forms putting me in a VERY difficult situation. The treatment received by the Dr was outstanding and I would not hesitate to send my daughter to her for treatment again, it is a pity that their admin does not meet the same standards.

We visited the ER on 1 June 2021, with a possible shoulder fracture. We arrived just after 17h00, was first consulted at 20h00 and left after 21h00 the evening! This was only to be examined by a doctor and to get X-rays. I appreciate that COVID may be used as a reason, but no COVID patients are treated in the ER. This was not the first 4h+ wait that we experienced. The worst trauma unit in South Africa - pls avoid at all costs.

IF I COULD GIVE ZERO STARS I WOULD. Okay so last year i went to the Willgers hospital trauma word late in the evening i was not on medical aid at the time and had to pay cash for everything a month or two i received an email followed by a brief call afterwords, in regards to my trauma bill (living in this day and age where you can get scammed over email i don't trust an email that only states a amount due and banking details attached but thanks to the great and patient lady i spoke to i quickly payed the amount due and went on my way BTW this was Sep/Oct 2019 BUT in September 2020 i received another email stating i owe an amount of R730 to the Wilgers hospital thinking this must be a mistake cause it's been a year and i only now receive an email NO CALL JUST THE EMAIL, i ask my mom to call seeing that i'm currently out of the country... my mom then informs me that DR LOUISE ENGELBRECHT spoke to her ans started raising her voice telling my mom to tell me that they were emailing me since last year and i should check my SPAM ... when my mom asked why they didn't call she rudely stated that they don't call ... which is funny seeing that i received one last year!!! my mom then said okay we will be paying the owed amount to her which was R730 and that's when DR LOUISE ENGELBRECHT said no it is now an amount of R960 because they gave the case to dept collectors and when my mom wanted to try and explain the situation she just said ''IF THIS NEW AMOUNT IS NOT PAID THEY WILL BLACKLIST ME" a student! You want to blacklist a student for seeking medical help and then paying her bills but BECAUSE YOUR OFFICE DIDN'T BOTHER TO CALL! and now your being rude about everything... ethical i think NOT!
