To quote another review: "Stay away, stay far away". After two grueling months of weaning myself off of an epilepsy medication I can finally function and think normally. I was admitted on the 3rd September 2025 to Netcare Linksfield hospital for severe migraines. I was told that Dr. Bera was very good, she proved otherwise. Her explanations were incomprehensible, she spoke so fast that through a migraine I was unable to understand her. She put me on a schedule 3 epilepsy medication in the middle of the night without asking my permission or explaining any of the horrific side effects. This epilepsy medication is also for bipolar! That type of med should be completely understood before even considering going on it. She seemed irritated that she couldn't find anything wrong with me after the MRI and thought the epilepsy would just have to do. She then phoned me while in Dischem trying to buy migraine medication and told me I have Mild Tonsillar Ectopia, and perhaps that could be the cause. I then phoned and emailed her for a week to get verification on this and finally she answered, after 7-8 days, saying that it was insignificant. I suffered extreme exhaustion from the medication, and after trying to get hold of her again to tell her how bad I was, I eventually gave up and just went to see my GP for help, and he weaned me off. To make things worse, she only reacted when I sent a complaint via email. To summarize it, Dr. Bera does not care, to quote her "I have 10 000 happy patients" so she doesn't care about the few bad reviews she receives. Instead of finding a solution she just put me on meds, which as a working mother, they stunted my life for two months. I'm going to see another neurologist to get a second opinion as I don't trust someone who claims to be a specialist but doesn't really want to heal people.

Uncouth, no Manner whatsoever , as loud as they come and please be careful for this practice is in breach of contract with Discovery - the only Rule that applies to this practice is Money money money …despite having signed a contract with Discovery this practice demanded the amount. Initially they asked for the full amount without checking if medical Aid paid , Be prepared to get 1 invoice for full amount and another after medical aid has paid .

Dr. Mumtaz Bera I had a deeply disappointing experience with Dr. Bera and her practice. We took my father for an MRI and a consultation with her beforehand. We were required to pay upfront, which we did without issue. Dr. Bera saw us and stated she would see us again immediately after the MRI. However, after my father’s MRI, I missed her call while assisting him. We rushed to her office within less than 5 minutes, only to be told that she had already left and would call us later that day. We waited patiently until Monday—no call. Tuesday, no call. Wednesday, no call. Each day, I called the office and was told she would contact us. By Wednesday afternoon, after days of anxiety and waiting for critical results, my sister called the office and mentioned that if we didn’t receive a response by the end of the day, we would take it to social media. Only then—within 30 minutes—did Dr. Bera call. She finally gave my father his results but was not helpful in providing a clear way forward. She briefly mentioned the option of a lumbar puncture but said she didn’t feel it was necessary and that there wasn’t much that could be done. What shocked us most was her comment on Friday, where she suggested that since my father stopped taking his heart medication, he didn’t have much quality of life left, and it might be better if he goes. This was incredibly insensitive and unprofessional, especially given how anxious and desperate we were for answers. To make matters worse, she also took issue with my sister’s comment about going public with our experience. Instead of addressing our concerns, she offered us the contact details of another neurologist and suggested we take my father elsewhere. This experience left us feeling dismissed, uncared for, and without proper guidance at a critical time for my father’s health. I cannot recommend Dr. Bera’s practice based on this experience.

Absolute worst service. If I could give it 0 stars I would. Firstly she admitted a patient that was fine after a seizure. The she wants to take bloodtests. A day goes by without any feedback , without checking in with the patient or the family !! She said around 4 she'll give feedback. It's 18h00 still no feedback , we had to ask another doctor to phone her to get any information. And still no response. Honestly the most terrible service I've ever experienced.

I BERA, she is anstrongly recommend Dr incredible Neurologist!! Completely thorough, professional, compassionate and knowledgeable. I have been to many neurologists and specialists and this is the first time I was given the best medical care, the exact causes and symptoms I have been dealing with for years have finally been discovered and I have been treated in the correct and best way for it! This is a Dr who is not out to rob you of money, she actually cares about your well-being as a whole. She follows up with you regularly and personally, covering all bases fully!

She is amazing! So humble and friendly. She really has the patients best interests at heart. While admitted all the nurses had commended her so well and truly enjoy her company and she made my stay so comfortable and pleasant. Truly one of the best doctors I have ever met!

Very disgusted in the poor service after having to pay a fee of R1850 with no results, money wasted. A neurologist's office in Linksfield Hospital, Orange Grove. Diagnosis of brain damage and high pressure on brain, explains clearly how dangerous it is,tells me it's authorized and cleared to be admitted. I get to where she sent me, reception, to be admitted. No bed is booked, nothing has been authorized, no reference letter or anything been sent to the surgeon. Here I am at home where I should've been in hospital for an urgent procedure. You can die and they won't do their work. Poorest medical service of my life.
