My husband and I were recommended to go to Dros Richards Bay for their great food and views for our 5th Year Wedding Anniversary. Generally, I have extremely high expectations for food and service delivery and would give it a 4 / 10. The restaurant was not busy at all and was quite gloomy and dark on the veranda , a restaurant on the water should at least have heaters and an ambient lighting to create a warm environment in my opinion and also ro railing to avoid children gaining access to the water line itself - As the place next door was busting with good laughs and vibrant music, Dros also overlooking the gorgeous outdoor scenery of a place called Zula Beach across the bay which looks to exude modern atmosphere and vibes. The food: We ordered our drinks which came quite quickly by our very smiley waitress. Further we ordered some starters and knew what we wanted for mains so ordered everything together but asked for it not to be rushed. We ordered the cheesy garlic snails to start, which is generally accompanied with crusty ciabatta bread (From every experience I have received elsewhere) only to be provided with dry brown bread which 1 slice had been DE crusted and cut into 3's - I mean really.... Ate the snails without it which were very average in flavour and quite chewy, not shy with the cheese though. As soon as we were finished, we were asked if we wanted our mains which came out immediately so had obviously been cooked at the same time as our starter as the food wasn't as fresh and tasty as I would have expected from a "Steakhouse" We ordered 1 x Steak & Prawn Combo & 1 x Rib & Prawn Combo - the ribs were nicer in flavour than the steak itself which was very juicy (as one would expect ordering medium rare) but not very flavourful at all like to prawns which were slightly overcooked but lacked freshness flavour and taste overall. Clearly frozen produce as opposed to fresh sourcing of stock. We opted to skip dessert to avoid disappointment. A nice walk out to the pier was enjoyed which is right next to the restaurant. Service: 7/10 Food 4/10 Ambience Vibe: 3-/10

This restaurant is one of the few restaurants in Richardsbay who really make your dining experience memorable, fun and exciting. They serve good food, their menu is unique and their chef cooks the food to perfection. They also have excellent customer service, the staff is friendly and well trained. They also offer all this amazing experience at affordable prices

The service is horribly slow, the food bland to the point of being inedible...and dry. The prices can never justify this. I also noticed that the staff have to CARRY the dirty plates our of the restaurant for washing.

Waited for 30 minutes while waiters walked past 12 times and I received no service. My child fetched menus from other tables and still no service. No manager in sight until I complained at the bar.
