I am very disappointed with the registration process at DUT. My son is doing final year in Tourism management, he tried to register the only subject that is missing so that he can finish his diploma but the system doesn't allow him to register. He is been going up and down the the campus and they keep on saying they will inform him once the system in sorted. Now I understand why there is so much of students committing suicide in DUT. I trusted the institution but it is now a shame

I'm writing to express my extreme disappointment and frustration with my experience regarding an application for fashion design. A student was called for an entry test and interview, which were accommodated on the same day due to travel constraints. Despite attending both, the application was declined citing non-attendance – a clear error on the university's part. We have evidence of attendance. The lack of follow-up on calls, emails, and non-updated systems has made this process unnecessarily stressful. I hope you'll address these issues to improve student experience.

A student registered on Monday. She was informed that she must wait to be allocated a residence. To date, there has been no clear communication or indication of when this allocation will take place. It has now been three days since the student registered, and she has been sitting at the sports centre daily without any guidance or assistance regarding residence allocation. No timelines are provided, and no one seems able or willing to give proper information. Furthermore, students wait at the institution for the entire day due to “system issues,” only to be told at the end of the day to return home without being assisted. This happens repeatedly. Even at this moment, students are standing in long queues seeking help, yet no one is providing information or offering assistance. This situation is extremely frustrating, time-consuming, and frankly disgusting. The institution presents itself on social media as if everything is under control, which is far from the reality students are experiencing on the ground. What makes this even more upsetting is that a student who arrived yesterday has already received assistance simply because they know someone within the institution. Why is it so difficult for a child to receive basic assistance when physically present at the institution and following the correct processes? This entire experience is unacceptable.

I am disappointed by the DUT, I was owing the university and paid the outstanding balance in full and when I requested a finance clearance letter they don't respond and they the debtors department doesn't pick up calls at all. When I was requesting my balance they responded very swiftly but now I need the letter urgently they just keep on ignoring my calls and my emails

"I'm writing to express my frustration regarding my Audiometry exam results at Durban University of Technology (DUT). I sat for the exam in 2023, but I've yet to receive my results. Despite multiple attempts to contact the lecturer via email, I received no response. I also visited the campus, but was told the lecturer was unavailable and would get back to me - which never happened. It's unacceptable that I've been left without any update on my academic progress for so long. I urge DUT to investigate this matter and provide me with my exam results as soon as possible."

Dear Thokozani, I just wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for all your assistance at DUT. Your support and guidance made a significant difference in my experience, and I truly appreciate the time and effort you dedicated to helping me. Your knowledge and approachability created a welcoming environment that made it easy to seek help and ask questions. You went above and beyond to ensure that I had the resources and information I needed, and your positive attitude was truly inspiring. Thank you once again for your invaluable assistance. I feel fortunate to have had your support during my time at DUT. Warm regards, Ofentse Dube

I had a very bad experience with this institution. My sister was funded by NSFAS for her duration of her studies. When she was supposed to graduate she was told that NSFAS did not pay and is owing 10000.00 when we asked what the amount was for they said it was for accommodation. My question was why was she not evicted by the landlord if NSFAS did not pay that amount no one could provide me with a proper explanation of this. Now I have had to take out a loan to pay the remaining fees since she cannot apply I would also like to request for a refund this is absurd.
