Pathetic service

 Dear Mikisha Sing  I am rather sad that you took to Hello Peter to vindicate yourself especially knowing that the facts you presented in this revie are incorrect. This does make it rather unfair towards Clearwater Optometrist.  Please allow me the opportunity to correct your review and complaint. As you should recall you and your husband came together, but are on different medical aids. You are   on Discovery with a savings plan. You were on the same plan I 2020 when we made your first pair of glasses.  Our staff checked her benefits and explained the quote to you. You agreed to go ahead.  Your husband then called a day or two later quite upset that medical aid paid for your spectacles from your medical   savings. This is standard procedure with Discovery and you need to see it as a contribution they make in advance towards your spectacles.   He said that we must have claimed incorrectly. Maryke van Zyl,   our optometrist  spoke to him personally  and explained to him that Discovery always pays the Optical Benefit from savings. It differs from your husband’s medical aid that gives an insured benefit. He said that we said that it will not come from savings – which I find very hard to believe as both frontliners know that Discovery pays from savings.  He instructed us to reverse the claim, as you needed the funds for other doctor’s visits, and that they will rather pay cash for the spectacles. He also insisted to speak to the owner of the practice. Geme Viviers called and discussed the matter with him as requested.  He then called again to say that they rather want to cancel the spectacles. I explained to him that the lenses had unfortunately already been ordered and cut.  We offered a payment plan of R300.00 a month which you agreed to. There is no poor service involved in this matter, simply ignorance on your behalf. It is important to note that we handed over the unpaid glasses to you in good faith that you will not fault on your agreed payment. You have been wearing the glasses and the free sunglasses since February and have only made 3 payments with the majority of the account still outstanding.  Yours sincerely  Marike Van Zyl OPTOMETRIST
