I was shocked to see the 565% increase (R20.00 to R133.00) in the tariff for an afternoon drive in the Oviston Nature Reserve.
How can you possible justify the crazy R 145.00 per person charge (including the conservation fee)?
The “roads” are in a shocking condition and not maintained, there are no decent toilet facilities, you need a 4X4 vehicle to negotiate some sections of the tracks (one cannot really call it roads), some of the tracks are now non-existent as they have been covered with veld.
The only explanation that I can find is that you would rather not have any visitors.
As a means of comparison with far superior reserves which offer excellent facilities, for example: - Addo Elephant National Park - R 86.00 per person for a day visit. - Mountain Zebra National Park - R 59.00 per person for a day visit. And with a Wild Card, the rates work out even cheaper.
I used to enjoy afternoon drives with my family in the Oviston Nature Reserve.
Sadly, this is not going to be possible anymore.
