What can I say about Elliot Attorneys......
My experience with Elliot Attorneys in Pretoria has been extremely disappointing and stressful. On November 24, 2023, I specifically requested that they provide a quote before proceeding with any work to avoid unexpected costs. Despite this, they ignored my instructions and invoiced me without prior approval. On the 21st of December, I called their office and asked their secretary to cease all work immediately. However, in January and February, I continued to receive invoices. On the 21st of February, I sent an email once again requesting an immediate cessation of invoicing and highlighting the financial burden their unapproved charges had caused me. I also informed them that I would be transferring my files to another attorney. Despite this clear and repeated request, they sent me seven more invoices in March. By February, I stopped paying due to the lack of transparency and the overwhelming costs. Instead of resolving the matter, Elliot Attorneys escalated it. In May, I was served with a letter of demand, and their response was filled with legal threats, including defamation claims, demands to remove my honest Google review, and the possibility of incurring even higher legal costs. They also pressured me to accept a settlement that included a 15% discount, but only if I paid a large portion of the balance within 48 hours. The lack of professionalism, communication, and transparency from this firm forced me to hire another attorney to defend myself. What started as a request for three simple letters turned into thousands of rands in unexplained fees, endless invoices, and unnecessary legal threats. To this day, I have no clarity on what work was actually done. My experience with them has been one of excessive billing, ignored instructions, and unprofessional conduct. I felt like their primary goal was to maximize their profits at my expense rather than provide fair and honest legal services.
