I am experiencing ongoing difficulties with officials from eThekwini regarding my property and tuckshop in Phoenix, Durban.
In August 2024 I began building an extension at my home and was later instructed by a building inspector to stop due to unapproved plans. I cooperated and only completed the side walls for safety. I was also instructed to remove the awning at my tuckshop, which I did immediately.
Recently I was told that I must apply for a tuckshop license within 30 days. However, I was also informed that my shop space may not qualify due to its size and that parking on the pavement is not allowed, making compliance difficult.
What concerns me is that many other tuckshops in my area appear larger and have awnings but do not face the same enforcement.
I am trying to comply with the regulations but the information I receive has been inconsistent and communication has been poor. I would appreciate clear guidance and fair treatment so that I can resolve this matter properly.
