I viewed virtually before I moved to Cape Town, my only specifications were I wanted to live in an only woman house or a mixed house with ***** people. I was assured the place I signed up for in observatory had all the specifications and when we virtually viewed I was happy with what I saw.
They put me in a house with 5 straight males
2 months into moving in, a housemate breaks into my room *****s my card goes withdraw R3000 and *****s my ID. He has since committed identity ***** with my ID.
The rental property manager till this day, 5 months later has refused to assist me with giving me the tenants name so I can go and open a case with the police. Another instance, is their maintenance manager giving contractors external contractors copy of keys to my room so they can come and fix my shower without giving me a heads up, I just find three strange men walking into my room, that was two months ago and till today not one person from this property group has apologized. We have also had an attempted suicide from another house mate in this house, the way management dealt with this incident, has been pecu**** and I will just leave it at that
I've absolutely loved living in Cape Town, I'm absolutely in love with the culture. But if I could do this again, I would have gone through a private landlord. It's so disheartening because this entire experience with them really made me realize there is no sense of community, I have no more sense of safety, Also if you sign up with them don't be surprised if somewhere along the lease they add extra charges that were not agreed upon earlier that has happened more than once to me. But everyone's experience is different, so I hope whoever reads this has a better experience than I did.
